5.0 out of 5 stars Now Know the Words!
Any fan of the MGM movie needs this collection of its many catchy tunes. The piano score is relatively easy, and the lyrics are overly-complete: they include introductions and entire songs, such as "Jitterbug," that ended up being cut from the film. You'll never mumble in the middle of a "Wizard" song again!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wow you better be a soprano.
This book is awesome, it has almost all the songs from the movie and then some. The only downfall is that every single one of the songs is written in a very high key. If you can't sing soprano, you shouldn't buy this book. For example, the song "Over the Rainbow" is written in E flat. The highest note is a high F. Some of the songs go up to high A flat. If you can't sing soprano, you shouldn't buy this book. For example, the song "Over the Rainbow" is written in E flat. The highest note is a high F. Some of the songs go up to high A flat. Even the songs that the males are supposed to sing are unbelievably high. In conclusion, if you are an alto, you probably won't be able to sing these songs without hurting your voice. If you can't sing soprano, don't buy this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Wizard of Oz: Vocal Selections, June 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this songbook because I needed the song "Over The Rainbow" for a singing exam. The songbook arrived in very quick time and in very good condition. There is a fairly decent introduction with a short write-up on the movie and some black and white pictures of the characters. The songs are complete with introduction, which is great because not all versions have the songs with the introductions. The accompaniments are relatively simple and there is enough space between the staves that make the dynamics and expression markings easy to follow. For the pricepoint that this songbook is at, this is a worthwhile buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice accompaniments, June 8, 2009

I chose this book because it listed a song on the Federation list for Vocal Solo - Musical Theatre. I was pleasantly surprised by the accessible accompaniments and very nice arrangements. My voice students have been very happy with this book.

This is an easy to play intermediate book with a few challenges here and there for the hobby piano player. If you love the movie this book is a lot of fun and has all the songs from the movie.
