Wizard and his dog, Wart, are justifiably worried when Zounds the vulture announces, "Trouble is coming!" not once but several times. The first announcement brings spark ants armed with matches; the second, a flood; the third, an ice storm; and the last brings a female vulture named Trouble to their door. Wizard casts a spell that ends each crisis with the exception of the arrival of the last "trouble," which Zounds will somehow have to solve for himself. Children will enjoy the humorous exchanges between Wizard and Wart as well as the comical appearances of a nervous rabbit and Wizard's wacky spells. The story is fast paced and even struggling readers will be hooked by the playful text. The lively illustrations reinforce the lighthearted tone and provide some visual clues. Cute and Fun,

This is a clever book with great wordplay, silly jokes, and a very subtle message about not worrying. Wizard (a wizard) and Wart a dog) are concerned when Zounds (a vulture) announces that "Trouble" is coming. Some minor trouble does come, in a way, but the wizard eventually get things straightened out. And (Don't Look Cause This Will Give Away The Story) the "Trouble" that Zounds was talking about turns out to be just the name of another vulture! The pictures are very colorful yet simply done. A great book for beginning readers or for adults to read to kids. The book has 48 pages divided into 5 short chapters...lots of illustrations and only one to five (or so) sentences per page.

Will not read this book to my child a second time,

I was surprised, and then angry, when I read this book to my child. Ants who come to burn your house down are troublesome and floods are trouble, but the worst trouble is a woman. The world does not need a book to help perpetuate demeaning female stereotypes.
We will NOT be purchasing any more of these books.
