Product Description

Wizardy is an RPG for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). You start by creating your party with members of different races, which include humans, elves, and dwarfs among others, as well as their alignment (Good, evil, or neutral). You then assign them classes (which include fighter, priest, mage, and thief). After equipping your party, the game begins. You are to make your way through the underground tunnels of a castle with the hopes of defeating the evil wizard Werdna. Before doing that, you’ll have to look for treasures, fight enemies, and gain experience to upgrade your party members’ classes. This is one of the first role-playing video games ever developed, so hardcore RPG fans need to experience this game! Now is your chance to experience a classic!

This is the kind of old school PC to NES port that seemed weird at the time and seems even weirder now upon nostalgia play. Originally I played this on a PCjr and the controls for the time seemed immense and unwieldly even though they were pretty simple. This is classic DUNGEON CRAWL RPG type gaming were the imagination of the gamer comes into play more than any other game other than text adventures. The graphically simple 3-D Castle and simple battle menus are fun even now, the difficulty of navigating other menus in the game however could make alot of non D&Ders to drop the controller on this one, if you are still running an NES this title and it's predecesor are cartridges a select few modern gamers will have the patience to stay with. Satisfying and worthwhile with a battery save.
