It was a great book to listen to. Even when I could only listen to and from work each day. suspence full and wonderful.

When I purchased it, the description specifically said audio cd... It was an mp3 cd and I opened it before I realized it. So much for listening to it on my vacation.

I loved the book on cd. I dont have alot of time to read but I do have a 22 minute drive to work everyday. The book was great, although it reminded me a little of a couple of other stories. The detail by the author was great and he always left you with a sense of wonder at what was coming next. Great ending and wonderful characters. I can't wait for the next book... I already ordered book 2 on cd.

I typically really appreciate a decent fantasy book and will at least sit through mediocre ones, but I couldn't make it through this miserable attempt at a book. The story is written at about a 3rd grade level, but with some uncomfortable sexual tension written in, too. Not uncomfortable in that the characters are uncomfortable, uncomfortable in that you feel bad for the author. I'm sure other reviewers have compared this to seminal works such as Lord of the Rings or Wheel of Time, so I'll just reiterate that you are better off reading those series again instead of reading this first book.

However, if you have medical issues and are extremely doped up on narcotic painkillers, this book may be tolerable.

The one plus side is the reader for the audiobook is terrific. Made me listen to about 10 hours more than I would have without such a great reader.
