Book Description

November 25, 2003
The Wizard's Mirror is a delightful journey into the world of the Ivatos masters and how the oracle Ivatos was developed. More truth than fiction, but written in the manner of a novel, it is Gari's attempt to share her personal journey, with all her fears and growing pains exposed, in hopes that the reader will face their own frailties with understanding and compassion.

Written much as guided meditation, fluff a pillow or two, grab a pot of tea or read it out loud to a friend. The Wizard's Mirror is given by the author as an offering from the heart to a heart, hoping to help smooth the stones from your path on the journey of life.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Born raised and educated in New York city, Gari graduated form the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, learned classical dance with pedagogical masters, and studied ancient method jewelry making. She moved to Arizona in the late 1980's a move that would influence her life and work. Choosing the beautiful red rocks of Sedona as home, she found the rural lifestyle, peaceful and full of beauty.

Her first published work was, Crystal Energy: Put the Power in the Palm of Your Hand, the second, a dictionary, The New Age A to Z, were books well received, full of information that Gari pursued first as a personal quest and secondly to make the information clear, comprehensively researched and accurate for others. While compiling the dictionary, she worked on developing the oracle, Ivatos. Perhaps this was as a result of the books she had written, but the oracle also incorporated her education in the arts. This book and accompanying pewter sings that are cast (or tossed) for a reading, met with many questions such ashow did this come to you?, how did it come to be?, how is it that these pieces came together as a group?.

The book that followed The Wizard's Mirror is an answer to these questions and more as Gari's first novel transmits metaphysical and philosophical ideas through characters and events that live only in imagination.

Gari Gold, (formerly Gari Gold Kennedy,) teaches classical ballet and yoga, and has created The Sedona Jewelry Collection a fine line of sterling jewelry based on the Ivatos oracle casting signs.

More About the Author

Gari Gold Richardson, a native New Yorker, makes her home among the cactus and coyotes in a small town near Sedona, Arizona. A student of the arts, and always intrigued by nature and the working of things, Gari (a typical Virgo who is fond for cataloging and organizing), wrote a "how to" of crystals, a dictionary and created the oracle, Ivatos. Her Book of Interpretations is a hands on user manual to the oracle. She teaches workshops guiding others to learn and use the amazingly accurate Ivatos.

This review is from: The Wizard's Mirror (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a must read if you want to help find out who you are. It is not only a great and entertaining novel but will help direct you to whom you are looking for in your own mirrors.
Any book that does several things at once is usually a good one. Ms. Kennedy must be an interesting person as well as a good friend to lots of folks. I will look forward to more books from her.

This review is from: The Wizard's Mirror (Mass Market Paperback)
The Wizard's Mirror had me from the first page and kept me intrested throughout. I couldn't put it down. The interactions between the author and the panel had me intrigued, made me laugh and allowed me to identify and see patterns in my own life. I've used the oracle IVATOS for many years and The Wizard's Mirror helped me to clarify its power and understand its applications. Everyone can and will enjoy this fun adventure into this other world.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rambling Reflections, January 10, 2007
This review is from: The Wizard's Mirror (Mass Market Paperback)
Similar to 'Ishmael' and 'Gods Debris' this is a philosophy book disguised as fiction. The elements of a good novel, like a story line, plot twists, and character development, are mostly absent. Without the typical tools of a good fiction, for this type of book to grab me the concepts have to be presented in powerful and compelling ways. 'Ishmael' and 'Gods Debris' managed to do this for me, but 'The Wizards Mirror' did not.

The book basically goes into the mind of the main character as she goes through a meditative journey. Much of the characters self talk is presented. The self talk is given in an acurate way, as it often rambles, jumps around, and sometimes offers insights from fear that are decidedly unenlightened. Unfortunately, although acurate, this self talk does not make for interesting reading.

The IVATOS model to understand and analyze consciousness is solid stuff. But there are many other models already available for this, and for me anyway, better ones.

I must admit I did not read the whole book cover to cover. After the first 50 pages I lost interest and skimmed the rest looking for enlightening insights.
