This review is from: The Wizard's Spell (Paperback)
Sara Myers had an ordinary life until Torian Fury appeared out of nowhere in her apartment, insisting that she was a High Witch and had to come to his world lest the Dark Ones kill her and bring darkness down upon all worlds. Moreover, he claims she is his mate. Sara does her best to deny his claims, but when the evil ones come after her, she has to face truth and follow her destiny. Once in Tarian's land, she discovers much about herself she never suspected, but may have to sacrifice everything for a world that is not her own.

*** Though the story relies a bit too heavily on sensual scenes to further the plot, it has a classic premise of a lost, magical heir being found in another world. Its a pity there was not more development, but Wizard's Spell is a good fast read if you don't have time for a saga length tale. ***

5.0 out of 5 stars The Wizard's Spell, April 17, 2008
This review is from: The Wizard's Spell (Paperback)
Sara Myers has an ordinary life. She doesn't think there's anything special about her at all, until one night a strangely dressed man appears in her bedroom. The man claims she's a witch and he's there to protect her. Suddenly, Sara's life is turned upside-down.

Torian Le Fury has been waiting for a long time to find his mate. Now that he's found Sara, he is determined to protect her from the Dark Ones who seek to steal her power when she reaches her thirtieth birthday. Will the stubborn Sara accept his help, and help him save her world and his?

In The Wizard's Spell, Cynthia Eden does a good job of creating a parallel world in which magic reigns and technology is shunned. Ms. Eden also did well weaving action in with romance and back-story. Torian is the perfect tortured hero. His past, and the great strength it would take to overcome it, makes him easy to empathize with. Even his bossy, overprotective moments made sense in light of his history. Sara, on the other hand, was the flaw in this book. While I enjoyed her stubbornness at times, at other times she drove me insane. There were several instances in which she knew she was in danger, yet she refused to listen to Torian or let him help her. Puh-lease, woman! A life or death situation is no time to be arguing. Fortunately, the interesting secondary characters and storyline soothed most of my annoyance with Sara. Although The Wizard's Spell wasn't perfect, the book kept me entertained, and I would like to see some of the secondary characters get their own stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Cynthia Eden, December 24, 2010

This review is from: The Wizard's Spell (Paperback)
Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors. This book is entertaining but I was matching it against her other books and I believe since it was from an earlier time in her writing, that this book is not her best. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, just not to the degree that I usually do with her writing. The hero was great in his role, the changes from one dimension to another was a bit tricky, and the heroine was definitly in need of training. It was sort of ironic that the heroine with the strongest magic was sort of clumsy. the book is worth the read. Enjoy

2.0 out of 5 stars Cynthia Eden's Wizard's Spell, March 11, 2010

This review is from: The Wizard's Spell (Paperback)
I'm a great fan of Cynthia Eden- particularly the Midnight Series, but Wizard's Spell is a bit of disappointment for me I'm afraid. This is probably one of her earlier books before her winning trademark style of writing shows in all her later books.
I find the story of Wizard's Spell a bit limp and somehow the characters failed to hold my attention!( I actually kind of skip and fast forward the pages in the end). I wouldn't recommend this book if you have never read any of Cynthia Eden's books but to get
the Midnight series instead coz those are fantastic and definitely worthwhile keeping.
