Wait for it to go on sale!!!,

My son saved up his money and was so excited for this game to come out. He is 9 years old and was able to pass the entire game in less than one day. After spending $30 of his own money he was extremely upset. As far as game play goes he really did enjoy the game and was having fun while it lasted. However, there are only 4 levels which was quite a shock considering the price. Ultimately it was a big disappointment and I wish we could have known before spending the money. My advice is buy it used or wait for it to be at least half price.

Walk walk walk... when do I get to do something fun?!,

The main issues I have with the official Waverly Place game are two-fold. Challenge details are often ambiguous, and your character often has to walk from one side of the game world to the other, and back again, just to complete a challenge. I am supposed to be a WIZARD... why am I walking for five minutes straight, when on the TV show, a wave of the wand gets you anywhere?
Games that make you walk just to make everything seem longer and more worthwhile simply do not fool me into thinking that way. This game is short. The equivalent of 5 levels (they're called episodes), each will likely take you an hour - longer if you get stuck trying to figure out what the challenge hint means, or if you get stuck on a particularly hard mini-game (usually 12-ball). The rewards for beating levels or the game are pathetic... sure, you unlock a few mini-games to play later, but they could have offered at least some incentive for completing them. There are some things to like about Waverly Place. The world is all there... you get to roam the Russo home, Waverly Place, the sub station, school even WizTech. This is fun for the frequent viewer of the show - to be able to actually walk through all of these sets. They are pretty well detailed, and about as similar as you could get on a tiny DS screen. The game isn't completely opposite the TV show, so you'll have to have watched seasons 1 and 2 fully to answer some of the trivia questions (or by frequent trial and error), and to understand the story. Don't pay full price for this game, because its length is much too short to warrant it. However, a fan of the TV show and movie will find this to be a nice, easy (well, mildly frustrating) adventure.

Game Too Short...,

A friend of ours bought it for our 6 year old daughter. My daughter enjoyed it but had difficulty reading everything so I would help her. She ultimately had me playing the entire game and I beat it in under 6 hours. Of course, I am 31 years old but even that there were only 4 levels. Alot of money for not alot of game.

This game is not worth $30 and I'm sorry if you spent your money on it. I rented it from Blockbuster a few days ago, and after reading reviews on IGN and Amazon I had already expected it to be...well, not good. But I like the show, so I figured I'd check it out. The reviews were right. It's boring and way too short. The characters have to do a lot of walking, which I guess is done to try to make the game seem longer. Some of the missions are hard to do and I had to use the internet to figure them out. The dialogue between the characters is pretty lame and I even found some typos in it, not that that really has anything to do with how fun the game is. It probably took me around 3-4 hours to beat the whole game, which is pretty quick. It may have been because I had already heard negative things about this game that I didn't like it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked it had I not read the reviews. Don't waste your money. If you really want to see what this game's like, please just rent it.

We are not hard core gamers. I got this game for my 15 year old daughter.
She was able to play it right away. The game has enough challanges to keep her playing. It is fun with out the gore and violence of some games.

At first this was a great game, but then I noticed its basically walking around and doing too easy or too hard games and after its over, you cant even start over and do it again, you're just left with the mini games, so I just returned it to the store. So basically, you have fun (sometimes), groan (alot), and explore (which is probably the best part), and then give up on it.

I liked this game when I played it, but after a while, it gets boring. And it's really short, I finished it in about 2 days. I would have done it quicker but I forgot to save and had to start all over. I think kids over 9 would find it boring. I think 6 year olds would enjoy the game the most, but they would need help from adults sometimes because you have to read in parts of the game.

I bought this for my 5 year old without doing any research. I wish I would have because it requires a lot of reading. It also has a lot of walking around. I tried to walk my daughter through the game, but it was hard to understand exactly what to do. Even if she could read I don't think she would enjoy this game. I really like the tv show. I wish they could have come up with a better game.
