5.0 out of 5 stars Works and saves time 99% of the time!
I am a professor who spends extensive times taking notes from books and papers. This has increased my productivity manifold. Yes, like any other device of this sort it is not always perfect, but the errors are few once you get a hang of how to use it. I think the people complaining about the product wrote the review before really learning how to use it. Every technology...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea but just isn't practical
I bought this as well as the C-pen and will promptly be selling the Wizcom pen. The biggest downfall is it is just way too slow to be practical. Every line of text you scan you have to wait 10-15 seconds for the pen to "think" and record before proceeding to the next line of text. The concept of having a dictionary and read text is nice but if it doesn't have the "brain...

I am a professor who spends extensive times taking notes from books and papers. This has increased my productivity manifold. Yes, like any other device of this sort it is not always perfect, but the errors are few once you get a hang of how to use it. I think the people complaining about the product wrote the review before really learning how to use it. Every technology out there, including your new TV, nowadays requires a learning curve and this is no different. For me, it is now my indispensable research assistant! I recommned the product enthusiastically if you are willing to bear few hours of teething pain.

4.0 out of 5 stars great tool, April 26, 2009
This review is from: Wizcom Infoscan TS Elite (Office Product)
This is a very useful tool. It scans very accurately when used properly and very rarely do I need to make any corrections. It saves a lot of time because I don't have to hand write notes any more. The notes can be easily scanned into the computer for further organization and print outs if needed.

Every line of text you scan you have to wait 10-15 seconds for the pen to "think" and record before proceeding to the next line of text. The concept of having a dictionary and read text is nice but if it doesn't have the "brain power" to do it in a timely manner why have it? The C-pen plugs straight into the computer (which isn't as handy but is MUCH faster).

I found it to be quite slow on the responses as it scrolls. Quite a few errors 60%+ error margin. Not good at all. However, if you take your time you'll eventually get it right. They need to build a model with a lighted screen, and with bluetooth capability. It's okay!

I have used this pen for about 8 months

The pen is not very accurate. Readings very from the once in a while 100% to pure gibberish. The average line as at least one and usually two words that are misspelled or replaced by another completely different word.

The software drivers need to be reloaded about once a week and there is little software support or upgrades on the website.

I use it because it still saves time, but I am very disappointed.

I give it a .5 for software and support, and a 2 for accuracy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Impossible to Install under Windows 7 Bad support availability, December 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wizcom Infoscan TS Elite (Office Product)
The product came in. We gave this to our kid for christmas. The manual says there is a CD . There was no CD. When we call the support it took few attempts to get support. They said to down load from the website. The installation never worked. I have done complex installations. May be it is their Win 7 version. But the product doesnot work. I am going to try one more time to talk to support people. I will return this product afterwards. Amazon should have some standards on what they front end. This is very unprofessional set upWizcom Infoscan TS Elite

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor product, May 24, 2011

After having used the Cpen 800c, and looking for a new pen that would work with Windows 7, this appeared to be one of the few products on the market like this anymore. Most, including Cpen have gone the route of not providing an LCD screen on the pen to review newly inputed text. This is unfortunate in my view, because the Cpen 800 did a pretty good job (i.e., not perfect, but quite useable - e.g., it did make errors, but not so many that they couldn't be corrected later) and had an LCD screen. But Cpen doesn't support Windows 7 on the 800c. Shame, shame, shame. I would never by a Cpen device again because of that. Getting back to the Infoscan, it is a little bigger than the Cpen 800, but nevertheless reasonably portable, and has a couple design improvements (e.g., little wheels on which you roll the device across a line of text; a touch screen LCD) over the Cpen 800. Before getting the device I read complaints about the speed at which it is able to capture text, but I didn't find this a problem, although it could do it a little faster for optimum results (you do have to wait a second after proceeding to scan the next line of text). The real problem I found is that the Infoscan makes too many errors during scanning/OCR. It does a very poor job of scanning/OCR of numbers. And it put a part of one line at the end of a series of lines I scanned (i.e., out of sequence) (weird!!). In short, this device is not useable, IMO.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Pen, but is not supported by Windows 7 so pretty much useless on most laptops and computers, December 24, 2010
This review is from: Wizcom Infoscan TS Elite (Office Product)
Great pen. A bit bulkier than I had hoped (was daydreaming of carrying in the pocket of my office jacket) but fits easily in my hand. Takes some time to figure out the menu and the correct holding position but once that is mastered the pen is very useful. Not perfect, but worth the price in my opinion.

However... and this is a big BUT.... the software to connect the pen via USB to any laptop or computer does not support Windows 7 (I can attest to this personally and it is confirmed by the manufacturer website ([...]), in essence rendering the pen useless to most laptop and computer owners out there. Contacting the manufacturer yielded no results to date (3 months since I sent 4 emails enquiring as to when they think a driver will be released).

So, if you have Windows 7, steer clear.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not ready for prime time, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Wizcom Infoscan TS Elite (Office Product)
This would be a cool gadget, if it worked. It just int ready for prime time. The major problem is holding your nand steady enough to scan the correct line.

I think future versions will be better then I will give it a try

This product is a waste of your money. By the time you mess around with it long enough to get the hang of it you could have just typed the notes.
