I purchased this for my son who has dyslexia to help him as he is reading. Since it has a dictionary and it speaks the word it has been very useful. There is a bit of a learning curve in handling the pen and getting it to scan but once that technique is down things go very smoothly. It has given my son more independence with his reading and I no longer have to stand over him to make sure he is indeed reading a word correctly or he is understanding what a difficult word means.

I am a high school business teacher and I have a few students who struggle with reading. I highly recommend this product to these students as a tool to consider for their adult lives. My husband is dyslexic and he is the one that orgionally stumbled across the reading pen, which has really helped him. It would be unfair to ask a quadarapalegic to learn to walk; instead we give them wheelchairs, rascals and tools to get around. The reading pen is a tool that can be powerful in the lives of people with readinng problems. Dyslexia, and reading disabilities are not a learning style that goes away with practice,. Individuals with these learning difficulties need tools to help them get by. I love it because it works best to just use on words the reader is struggling with and not entire lines of text, but it can be used that way as well. It takes a little practice, just like a wheelchair, but if the person is truly dedicated to accessing information it comes quickly.

it still takes me a while to get through a page. But the time that it would take me to get through one paragraph or even one sentence now takes the same time to get through a page. I love it. NO MORE ASKING MY 10 YEAR OLD TO HELP ME READ SOMETHING!

The pen was helpful, but ultimately we returned it. Our 15 year old, who has severe dyslexia, had used these before at school, so he was familiar with their use. We both found it took several times on many sentences to get it to read accurately. Once it did, the voice it uses is hard to understand. Very robotic female voice. Has potential, but not there yet. If you're using it for its other functions, then it may be perfect for you.
