Product Description

Skeptoid is a weekly science podcast dedicated to furthering knowledge by blasting away the widespread pseudosciences that infect popular culture. From the sublime to the startling, no topic is sacred, politically incorrect though that may be. Each weekly episode focuses on a single phenomenon--an urban legend, a paranormal claim, alternative therapy, or something just plain odd or silly--that you've heard of, and that you probably believe in. Skeptoid attempts to expose the folly of belief in non-evidence based phenomena, and more importantly, explains the factual scientific reality. Creator and host Brian Dunning offers bonus content and selected PowerPoint presentations, and this podcast app is rounded out with wallpaper and access to the show's Twitter feed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Myths and Truths August 17, 2012
Verified Purchase
I am a skeptic so I really enjoy listening to this man take down many illogical and plain untrue myths. He presents the item and dismantles falsehoods in a logical way. Opinions aren't fact and it is refreshing to see facts, logic, and intelligence used to show the difference. Brian Dunning can be blunt and grating at times but usually in response to people using opinion and/or twisting half truths to their purpose. He has a wide cache of older podcasts and I think the first ones anyone should listen to are those where he breaks down different ways of debating and using half truths to confuse. He also flat out explains there are some people who insist on their viewpoints no matter what is shown and that really it isn't worth your frustration to try and dissuade. Sometimes, particularly with environmental matters, I strongly disagree with him but that is part of being a free thinking audience. Learning how to debate and avoid pratfalls such as a straw man argument is a valuable lesson

4.0 out of 5 stars Great podcast, Bad app October 11, 2013

Slow start, waiting with black screen, no easy access, no search, no read tag.
This is not enough with 400 episodes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy Skeptoid Podcast November 21, 2011

I enjoy the podcast. Already had the app from Android market place. Bought again from Amazon marketplace for my Kindle Fire. Even though I could have extracted to Apk from my Droid 3 and installed as third app on my Kindle:) Just to support the podcast.

4.0 out of 5 stars good series May 20, 2014

I love the series. I wish the app would play episodes chosen in sequence without having to start each one. Let it continue to play the "starred" episodes in order and continue until the user stops.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, in a way Edit April 3, 2014
Verified Purchase
I have only listened to one episode of this podcast, so I have limited experience. I plan to listen to more, but I have to admit, I found the one I did hear kinda boring. It was the host just reading. I prefer the shows that have guests. It functioned fine and the site was easy to negotiate.
I now listen to every episode of this podcast. It IS the host reading, but he's reading interesting stuff!
