5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well In Our Busy Daycare
Our daycare center bought 1 to test it before investing any more money. We were looking for something safe, not super expensive and that would last to heavy duty useage for a long time. We used the first one at the water fountain. It worked great. Three months later, we bought four more (2 for the girls restroom and 2 for the boys) so the children could wash their...

I was looking for a step stool to use in the kitchen to let my son get up to see the counters and sink safely - we got this product today (from another source). First problem - the predrilled holes for the screws didn't all line up properly. Second problem - the top step would not stay in the grooves that are designed to hold it. I was looking for a step stool to use in the kitchen to let my son get up to see the counters and sink safely - we got this product today (from another source). First problem - the predrilled holes for the screws didn't all line up properly. Second problem - the top step would not stay in the grooves that are designed to hold it. They are very shallow and the tongue that is to hold the step in is very small. I have a 31 lb. child who loves to jump and bounce and there is no way this would be safe for him. My husband is returning it as I write.

2.0 out of 5 stars Go for something sturdier., July 5, 2009

I wasn't impressed by this product because of quality.

Instead, I bought Wood Designs Healthy Kids product called Step-Up-N-Wash. The link is to the company web site/store but I was able to buy it cheaper elsewhere. Anyway, Step-Up-N-Wash came assembled. It's very sturdy and slip-resistant and the perfect height for bathroom and kitchen. It's well worth the extra

We used the first one at the water fountain. It worked great. Three months later, we bought four more (2 for the girls restroom and 2 for the boys) so the children could wash their hands after each restroom use. They too are standing up great, still looks like new except for the blue step grippers. We have an average daily attendance of 80, ages 1-5.

5.0 out of 5 stars durable, January 21, 2010
This review is from: High Rise Step Up (Toy)
Despite all the reviews, I personally found that it was VERY easy to put together and used nothing but what was provided by manufacturer. Nevertheless the stool is very stable. I've had it for over a year and the only problem was that some of the plywood eventually "peeled off" one of the corners. Nothing that couldn't have been fixed with a drop of glue if needed. It could easily handle 2 toddlers, but is not quite wide enough for them to be comfortable (but they squeeze in somehow anyway).

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 year old loves it, September 14, 2011

My 2 year old loves this. When I am working at the counter he climbs on up and likes to watch or participate. He has taken a tumble a couple of times when he is not paying attention to his footing when coming down but now that he is used to it, he hasn't had a problem. It does take up space in the kitchen so be sure you have a location for it. Also, I can easily move it around and use for a step stool myself. I love this item and will probably have it in my kitchen for years to come. It is well made and fairly simple to assemble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great affordable step up for toddlers who love to help cook, April 28, 2009
This review is from: High Rise Step Up (Toy)
This high rise step is fabulous. At about 2 and a half my son started a unit at daycare about kitchen utensils. He became excited about the increase in his vocabulary and curious about cooking. To enhance his small motor skills and to spend some quality time together I started to do small kitchen projects with him, like making guacamole or mixing the pancake batter or using an apple corer. But he was kneeling on a kitchen chair -- and all it took was one close fall and I realized I needed a better solution. The Guidecraft High Rise Step Up gives him enough stability through it's non-slip padding on the steps. He can also hang onto the handrails for support, so I don't have to worry about him falling.

The height of the step makes him around chest level to our kitchen counter so now, at 3, he can comfortably chop cilantro with a butterknife for salsa. The step is also very easy to clean and doesn't take up as much space as the other step up stools that have a bar around the entire step that serves as a safety enclosure.

I purchased this stair-style step stool for my 2 1/2 year old so that she could be part of the kitchen experience (doing dishes, cooking, etc). As an amazon Prime member 2 day shipping was free. It took about 20 minutes at the most to assemble. I could not be happier with the product. I had actually tried to cancel my order after reading some negative reviews. I'm so glad my cancellation did not go through. It is high quality and the perfect height. My daughter calls them her "stairs". Highly recommend. It think the price is a great value, especially compared to the Learning Tower which I considered.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cancelled my order with no explanation, January 14, 2010

This review is from: High Rise Step Up (Toy)
I noticed that this item did not arrive as scheduled. Then, I received an email that my order had been cancelled and they had not chrarged my credit card. The email was stated as if this was normal and perfectly acceptable. There was no explanation that it was on backorder or anything. Amazon gave me no option to order from another vendor AMAZING! Customer service at its worst.
