5.0 out of 5 stars Even older kids find it entertaining
I'm 19 and when I saw it on TV it was very interesting. I understand it's a toy for younger children, but it is kind of fragile (dropping it once can really screw with the face mechinisms)[..]. 2.0 out of 5 stars My first impression was certainly not "WowWee"
I ordered this toy as a birthday present for my 3 year old son. He had seen it on tv, and thought it was "so cute". When I received the package, I wanted to test it out to make sure all was working well. This toy comes with 4 double A batteries already installed because you are supposed to be able to test it in the box. Well, the one I received had dead batteries, so...

Personaly I woulden't buy this toy online because I had to go to several stores to find a model that didn't look broken or poorly made. If you get a good one though, it's extremely cute and interesting to watch. Besides the robot noises it has the facial expressions of a real lion, right down to the bottom eyelid closing before the top. My friends and I occasionaly find ourselves talking to it as if it were a real cat. So overall it's a really cool toy. But don't bother buying it unless your kid is really into lions or robots in general, or you have a lot of money to throw around.

I ordered this toy as a birthday present for my 3 year old son. He had seen it on tv, and thought it was "so cute". When I received the package, I wanted to test it out to make sure all was working well. This toy comes with 4 double A batteries already installed because you are supposed to be able to test it in the box. Well, the one I received had dead batteries, so I was not able to test it without taking it out of the box to replace the batteries. I tried to be as careful as possible when removing the toy from the packaging, in case I needed to send it back, but there is absolutely no way to get the toy out without essentially ripping the box apart. Once I had the toy out, I replaced the batteries and it began to work. The first thing I noticed was how loud the mechanical noise is. It most definitely overpowers the lion cub noises that it makes. It's hard to find the animal noises very cute and appealing with the toy whiring and grinding like that. Also, the cub that I received does not close one of its eyes all the way, and on the same eye, the fabric is not glued close enough to the eyeball, so the black mechanical part that opens and closes is visible. This thing is also not anywhere near as cute as it is on the commercial. I don't really see my son playing with this thing very much, and I think I just wasted my money. Which, by the way, I think was too much, considering the quality of the toy.

My daughter loved this toy as soon as she saw it at the store. It was great, she treated it like a real animal. 18 hours later the eyes and month stopped working and I could smell like a electrical burning smell at the top of its head. I felt so bad for my daughter, she loved this toy with a smile ear to ear when she got it. She feel asleep with it in arms and cried her eyes out the next day when it stopped working. Trusted me, she was not even close to being rough with it, it just stopped working right.

This is a great toy, and my son is crazy about it. The unusual thing is that it is so life like and yet so cuddly at the same time. My son feels like he has a real pet, and there is no upkeep or feeding!

I puchased this for my daughter and it is currenty put away for Christmas. I did try it out to make sure it works. First I found that the "try me" in the box thing didn't work, which was because the batteries that were included were dead. Once I put in my own batteries it did work, thankfully, although I must say that the internal mechanisms that make the face move, etc, are much more audible than I would have liked them to be. So rather than ababy lion it sounds much more like a baby ROBOT lion, which I realize it is. I did write the company through their website and they have never acknowledged my contact. I tried again about a week later and still (now it is well over a month or so) and not even an automated response letting me know that someone read it. That's disappointing.
Having said that- it is very very cute and soft, and I know she'll still love it, robot sounds and all.

I recently bought this toy from Amazon.com for my daughter and its amazing. Its so life like. Yes it does make robotic noises as it changes expressions but this does not effect the overall adorablity of this toy. My daughter adores it. And I have to admit that I'm quite fond of it myself. I feel the price was extremely reasonable also. It is worth every penny, in my opinion. One of the best stuffed animal toys that is robotic out there.

I bought the two lions - the tan and white for my grandchildren. I wish I would have seen the review with the following quote, "The first thing I noticed was how loud the mechanical noise is. It most definitely overpowers the lion cub noises that it makes. It's hard to find the animal noises very cute and appealing with the toy whiring and grinding like that. " The mechanic noise ruins the toy. It is not as interacitve as I had hope either.

I am so in love with this baby alive lion cub. I bought one for each of my children, ages 2 and 5. Boys and girls alike will love this toy. You won't believe how interactive it is. They are also very realistic. It is like having a pet you don't have to feed. The one fault these toys have is they don't walk or anything. If wowee could come out with an updated version that actually walked I would be in heaven.

The WowWee Lion Club is wonderful and my 13 month old friend loved it. The eyes and mouth worked great after I changed the original batteries but the purring part did not. What a hassle to have to send it back to Amazon for a refund, especially since it came in a box large enough to hold an Ambrams Army tank. Even so, I am trying again and reordered based on the child's reaction and her parents. They wanted to order all three!
