4.0 out of 5 stars Playfully spooky
A playfully written Halloween book with just enough "spooky". It is written from the perspective of the witches. Artwork and dialogue is intriguing to youngsters. A favorite of my 3-year-old.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wordless Woggle??
Purchased for my granddaughters, they thought this would be a cute story book. Well it arrived timely, and we sat down that evening to read the new book. There were very few words in the book to begin with, and it didn't get much better throughout. The story isn't really a story at all. And the author is not too clear on what they are wanting to portray. The Artwork...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, October 7, 2008

This delightful book is destined to be a classic for the children lucky enough to be introduced to it. My son checked this book out from our library all year long when he was a child. It takes children into the fascinating imaginary world of day to day, or, I should say, night to night life of a woggle of witches. By the way, my son recently purchased a copy because it is such a wonderful memory for him. He wants to share this story with his owh children.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Leave the dishes! It's time to go!"...A Witch's Night Out, December 16, 2001

This review is from: A Woggle of Witches (Aladdin Books) (Paperback)
This is a charming book for Halloween reading pleasure with double page illustrations and minimal text that still packs in plenty of humor and spooky fun. Meet the witches deep in the heart of the dark forest as they wake up to celebrate that certain night! Scoop a little bat stew out of the bubbling cauldron and then grab your broomstick for some ace flying. The joyful faces on this woggle of witches as they cut loose with their Halloween hijinx are sure to make you smile, too. But what's this?! The witches get "spooked" by some trick-or-treaters that send them flying back home to the forest. A great time is had by all. I love the exciting atmosphere of celebration that this book creates with so few words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fondly remembered and deeply loved., October 20, 2009

The book tells the story of a group or "Woogle" of witches that live deep in the forests and high in the trees. Its begins with the witches waking at night to have their annual feast of bat stew and spider web bread, and followes them , literally, to the moon and back, only to be frightened by "monsters", which are actually Trick or treaters. The artwork is dark but vivid, exactly like a halloween book should be, very Tim Burton-ish. If you dig this book (and your children will) check out another hard to find halloween book "The pumpkin smasher".

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Halloween Fantasy, October 15, 2009
By
This book is excellent for fan crazy about Halloween. I signed this book out of the library continuously the whole month of October until the day after Halloween. This has been my favorite since I was a kid, and I'm still a kid at heart at age 45 and I read this book every Halloween to put me into the season. I highly recommend this for story telling with the kid and mybe yourself as well HA HA HA! Happy Halloween everyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars my idea of 'good used' condition isn't 'falling apart', October 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Woggle of Witches (Hardcover)
I was excited to find this favorite book from my kids' childhood as a surprise to be sent to one of them away at college. I assumed "GOOD Standard used condition" meant that the book wouldn't threaten to fall apart when you held it. The binding is broken badly, there are torn pages and parts of the hard cover that appear to be chewed off. The book has stamps and stickers throughout, including on the front cover, directly over the picture, and frankly I am embarrassed to send it as a gift--seems more like a joke. I am very disappointed and will absolutely not trust, nor buy from this seller again. I did not send the book back because there is not time to search for a different one. Lesson learned.
