Book Description

Barrett Simmons, head of security for the famous rock band, Lyric Hounds, has managed to avoid the band members’ less-than-subtle matchmaking attempts. Since the woman he loved was killed in action, his heart has been as dry and dusty as the sands she fell on. He doesn’t want to date, in fact he can’t think of anything worse. But he didn’t count on his sister, Melody, making a call to Madame Eve....

A car crash two years ago left werewolf Saxon Reeves with amnesia and nightmares—but the nightmares aren’t of the crash. Instead she dreams of a soldier. A human soldier she can’t get out of her head. When her family pushes her to mate with a wolf from a neighboring pack, she decides to take one night, just for herself, and contacts 1Night Stand.

The last thing she expects when she walks through the door is to come face to face with her soldier....

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to the 1Night Stand Series July 3, 2013

Wolf-Bond is a sequel to Mina Carter's Melody's Wolf. Wolf-Bond focuses on Barrett (Melody's brother) and his lost love Saxon. If you aren't familiar with 1Night Stand Series then you should know the series features one night hook-ups that the extremely talented matchmaker Madame Eve arranges. Each story is stand-alone but many authors use continuing story-line's for their additions to the series (which I love). The stories are about quality not quantity so if you are looking for a long read this series isn't for you. But I personally love novellas and I am totally addicted to this series.

In Wolf-Bond, Barrett is mourning his deceased love Saxon. Since his sister Melody found her HEA with Madame, she is determined to help her brother find his HEA. Barrett really has no interest in going on the date but he agrees to go to make his sister happy. I don't want to spoil the story but I am really amazed how much plot, mystery, intrigue, and hot sex Mina Carter packed into one night. Simply amazing!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome! July 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought this story was great! I can only imagine if it was longer and has more of the previous interactions or future. But even with what was given the only complaint I would have is that the characters were not developed to where I would have liked them to be. In any case I thought that this was an awesome read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rating.... July 27, 2013

My Review:
I loved this book. It's short (it's a 1NS book and those are always easy reads) but it's certainly not short on story or emotion. In fact, this is a great angsty emotional read. It's a gorgeous story.

Barrett works security for the Lyric Hounds. He's the brother of Melody, from book #1 in this series, and was a soldier...until a mission went very wrong. A mission which killed the love of his life, Saxon. It's been two years and Barr can't seem to move on with his life so he accepts Melody's suggestion to set up a 1 Night Stand through Madame Eve. She does have a special, magical touch with her hook-ups and this book is no exception to that.

Saxon doesn't remember the last seven years of her life. She was in a car accident two years ago and lost a huge chunk of her life. She's had to rely on her family to fill in the blanks. What doesn't make sense though is that she doesn't dream of a car accident. She dreams of a military firefight and one man's face.

To say that this is an emotional 1NS is putting it lightly. But it was so good. A lot of emotion and sexy times. I liked it...a LOT! It spoke right to my angst-loving heart, but was short enough that it didn't leave me feeling shredded like so many ansty books can. I'm ready for the next Lyric Hounds book. I knew I was going to like this series!

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm too old for this stuff July 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have no idea what I was thinking when I ordered this. True, I read shifter/romance/mystery fiction. But seldom do I buy short stories and usually don't get suckered into one so florid.

IF you are willing to suspend disbelief it's an OK tale. And that is a big IF. IF an officer and an enlisted have a torrid affair in the middle of a desert war without either of them being discharged; IF Miracle Max is available to bring back Saxon from the "nearly dead"; IF her father suddenly can switch from being a venal, lying, social climbing wolf to loving father in an instant and IF a battle hardened soldier, even with "the wolf link" ,can defeat a werewolf in hand-to-hand or hand-to-claw combat: IF you can believe that then go for it.

If you are like me, you will wonder if you bought this in an ambien induced shopping haze. Which, unfortunately has happened to me, and may have occurred here.

Story itself made no sense. Poor character development. I can't believe I wasted money on this. Bad decision on my part.

Wolf Bond is the second book in the Lyric Hounds Series and 183rd in the 1NightStand Series. The latter being comprised of various authors in the same universe were Madame Eve arranges “one-night stands" that seems to last a lot longer than an evening. Each book can be read individually.

What goes around comes around. Barrett Simmons set up his sister Melody in Book one of the Lyric Hounds. Melody returned the favor in book two. For two years, Barrett has been mourning the loss of the woman he loved who died while killed in action. His heart is broken, feeling he will never overcome her death.

For two years, werewolf Saxon Reeves, has suffered from amnesia after a terrible car crash. She has dreams of a soldier. Her family wants to force her to mate with someone she does not love. She arranges a night with Madame Eva hoping to find her soldier.

I love Barrett and Saxon. They are both strong characters that have endured a lot. They fight for what they want and have loyal hearts. They are meant to have a “Chance meeting.”

I also appreciate that Mina Carter gave up a little update on Melody and Aaron.

This is such a great story. Mina Carter does an exceptional job with the Lyric Hounds short stories. They are so rich with detail and excitement. The best part is you can read it in one sitting and feel completely fulfilled.

Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.
