Book Description

Ilene Rune has lived with a secret for 21 years that threatens to destroy her marriage, her life, and all of humanity. But how can she tell her son, Alec, that his new boyfriend, Jared, may be part of that secret?
Investigating a brutal murder, Detective Lance Herald enters a dark world of fairy tales and fantasy—that shakes his belief in what is possible and imagined.
Lucy Rune cannot fathom what happened the night one brother was slaughtered and the other critically wounded—but she does know, her boyfriend, Rene, who was also attacked is changing.
Geraldine Bloom, Alec’s grandmother, has the gift of foresight, and has waited for years for the evil that wants her grandson to come for him.
Alec Rune wakes from a coma to learn his twin brother has been murdered—and that he is the only witness. But he remembers nothing of the night.
Werewolves, genetics, and a thrilling murder mystery intertwine in this “multi-layered and unpredictable” (Christine Coretti) horror novel that builds to “an absolutely epic ending” (thegayUK.com).

5.0 out of 5 stars If Teen Wolf were gay(er) and gorier.... September 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
So The Wolf at His Door promises to be the first book in a trilogy of gay werewolf horror by author Adrian W. Lilly. And I can't wait to read the continuing story.

When I first started reading the book, I expected this to be a light and fluffy gay teen paranormal romance as I'd seen it described. And I was willing to go with that. But I think that categorization does The Wolf at His Door a huge injustice from a horror angle. Lilly seriously delivers the hardcore werewolf action! I was shocked and thrilled to find this was a full-fledged horror novel.

So in short, the story is about a young man coming to terms with the fact that he might be...a lycanthrope. He already knows he's gay, so this is thankfully not another teen coming out story. His sister and friends have introduced him to a new guy. As their romance heats up, his family struggles with a big secret, teens start to disappear--and no one seems to be safe. And the young man begins to suspect his new boyfriend might be hiding something as well....

The Wolf at His Door features a complex and twisting plot that never loses steam, with relatable and likeable characters, some seriously gruesome deaths and horror scenes, incredibly written suspense, and even some highly erotic scenes. It's as exciting and fast-paced as a movie or TV show. Adrian W. Lilly has a visual style of writing that makes the book read like a movie.

If you like Teen Wolf or movies like Cursed, you will definitely appreciate this one. It has that kind of teen horror vibe. And the horror is just beginning....

5.0 out of 5 stars If the wolf comes knockin'... don't answer October 7, 2013
By Tina
Format:Kindle Edition
I won this book in a giveaway. I will start by saying- Horror genre? Not a fan. But, I will say, that as an example of that genre, this was very well done. There was definitely some predictability, but the writing was great and the story stayed consistent and dark, building to a satisfactory conclusion. This is not your feel-good werewolf book. The characters are tormented and conflicted, and have no control over their beast, which makes even the good guys, potentially bad. I enjoyed the writing style, if not the blood and gore (but that's me, no reflection on the author).

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical werewolf story November 11, 2013
By Rex
Format:Kindle Edition
This book blew me away! I was not expecting the twists and turns, and yes, the actual horrors! Lilly did an excellent job of characterization by creating characters I actually cared about.

In horror novels, people often die. Some of the choices Lilly made, had me in tears. It was a book I found that I could not put down.

Definitely a different twist in the old werewolf genre!

Note: I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the Lovers of Paranormal (LoP)group on Goodreads.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling but fun gay Paranormal Romance! July 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I love to read books from (for me) new authors. The Wolf at His Door is the first one I have read by Adrian Lilly. The Wolf at His Door is a lovely and thrilling Gay Paranormal Romance. Alec one of the brothers of an identical twins is facing a horror while exploring his interest in Jared.

I have to admit it was a little of a struggle to get in to the story. Some places where too much described that it broke my concentration to get in to it. Like descriptions of kitchen and hallways that where not really necessary for that part of the book. And I also had some troubles keeping the characters separated in the beginning, especially the twins with the similar names, Alec and Adam in the middle of all the other characters that follow in a rap tempo the first pages. But after that the story soon got me hooked and ready to go. With its great world-building and fun dialogues, action and paranormal characters, Adrian Lilly ready did his best to make this a fun and thrilling book to read. With teasing scenes like a shirt-less frisbee game and steamy kiss scenes and of course the thrilling/investigation scenes.

I am looking forward to read more about Alec and Jared and his inexperience and a bit disappointed that Adrian skipped the fun bed part. But on the other hand even more interesting to keep reading. Page after page a real page turner!
I hope to read more from this series. It is good there are 2 more coming up! I certainly will keep my eye on Adrian Lilly and his Runes Trilogy!

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this authors writing style here July 31, 2014
By Kirsten
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this authors writing style here. I also loved that it didnt portray itself as a horror novel, but that's exactly what it is which I'm totally into! There was just enough conflict with and among the characters to make it really interesting and I could wholeheartedly relate to some of them. It was a suspenseful read that didnt leave me hanging at the end at all, just wanting to read more works written by this author. A must read for any book worm!

This novel has it all: paranormal; romance; suspense; edge of the seat at moments, and an all around good read. I'm in the second book, and while I rarely buy sequels, I find this is one author I would read everything that he/she writes. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a busy, full read, filled with "what is next"!
