Book Description

May 1, 2007
New York City children’s author Erinn Winters is haunted by a past no one knows, and dark visions of death and danger that come to her without warning. But when a desperate search for her estranged sister leads her to Wolf River, Montana, Erinn suddenly finds her secrets, even her very life, at risk. And after meeting notoriously sexy Jase Fortune, Erinn finds herself in another kind of danger—she could lose her heart.

Jase Fortune is as committed to staying single as he is to running his booming family ranch––until mysterious, gorgeous Erinn shows up. But someone is out to destroy the Fortunes, and Jase finds himself willing to do anything to protect not only his family but Erinn too. As the peril mounts, so do Erinn’s and Jase’s feelings for each other, but the promise of love is threatened by deadly secrets and vicious enemies, and a killer who will stop at nothing….

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Erinn Winters, a children's author suffering from writer's block, travels to Wolf River, Montana, when she is notified that her runaway teenage sister, Devon, has been located there. Erinn had also run away from their emotionally abusive father and feels horribly guilty for not having helped her sister. Erinn rents a cabin from rancher Jase Fortune. Someone has been shooting cattle on the Fortune family's ranch, and suspense grows as the foreman becomes a target. Gregory's descriptions of ranch and rural life do not always ring true in this standard contemporary western romance, but the building of relationships between Erinn and the folks of Wolf River makes for an enjoyable read. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good read ., May 14, 2007
This review is from: Wolf River (Mass Market Paperback)
I didn't like this book at all. The story felt like one I had heard before. Somethings were utterly ridiculous like the reason the villain gave towards the end for what he did. I felt like the author was insulting my intelligence at every turn in this book. The heroine flat out irritated me and there was nothing heroic about the hero. The story just didn't work for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Big Mystery, May 12, 2007

This review is from: Wolf River (Mass Market Paperback)
At first I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading this book. But I struggled on knowing that this author is a good writer.

For one thing I am glad that I came from a good home with

good parents. I can't imagine just how these girls were able

to survive in life at their age to just go off. This story from cattle

who are being shot at night in the pasture, to missing people, to

kidnapping, it seems like all of a sudden you are drawn into really

complex situations. You find yourself saying "do something". Then

you find out there is a group working here against a family member of

the Fortune family and another situation that involves a ranch hand

working for the same family. Well everything works out in the end and

leaves you with some unsettled thoughts. I did not like the feel of this

book. Life can be so different from this presentation. I know this writer

is a good writer. Try looking up.
