5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!
If you want a book that keeps you reading and holds your interest, read Wolf River by Jill Gregory. From murder to romance, there is intrigue and suspense at every corner, and you will always be on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like an enjoyable, exciting read. I hope you like it as much as I did!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good read .
I didn't like this book at all. The story felt like one I had heard before. Somethings were utterly ridiculous like the reason the villain gave towards the end for what he did. I felt like the author was insulting my intelligence at every turn in this book. The heroine flat out irritated me and there was nothing heroic about the hero. The story just didn't work for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Big Mystery, May 12, 2007

At first I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading this book. But I struggled on knowing that this author is a good writer.
For one thing I am glad that I came from a good home with
good parents. I can't imagine just how these girls were able
to survive in life at their age to just go off. This story from cattle
who are being shot at night in the pasture, to missing people, to
kidnapping, it seems like all of a sudden you are drawn into really
complex situations. You find yourself saying "do something". Then
you find out there is a group working here against a family member of
the Fortune family and another situation that involves a ranch hand
working for the same family. Well everything works out in the end and
leaves you with some unsettled thoughts. I did not like the feel of this
book. Life can be so different from this presentation. I know this writer
is a good writer. Try looking up.

I tried to read it. The heroine was annoying - two "n's" in Erinn indeed. I started skipping through it at the end of the 3rd chapter and was glad I did. This kind of fiction is like calories. The book has to be worth it. This one was not.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average Read, April 27, 2008
This review is from: Wolf River (Mass Market Paperback)
This was the first Jill Gregory book I have read so really don't know her style but this (outside of the sexual scenes) seemed about a junior high level. I couldn't find the heroine likable(she thinks her father was controlling-she's not far behind-not as mean but definitely set on having things her way-I could see her trying to control her sister-she was even annoyed when her sister hit it off with Jaes's Dad and became so ineterestd in the horses). The hero wasn't terribly bright either-good grief! He had a bad marriage so he's never going to fall in love again? Of course what he saw in the heroine is beyond me. She was just annoying. We are reminded at least once in every chapter that Jase is not going to fall in love or commit to another woman and Erinn in her thoughts saying the same thing. Okay think we have it now!

The whole story line is unbelievable at best. The mystery itself had possiblilities but it was the relationship of Erinn with Jase and her sister that was annoying. I found myself skimming just to finish it. There weren't any characters that were very likable or believeable. The dialogue or even when we were privy to their thoughts, were just so immature. I kept waiting for these people with college degrees to have a bit more intelligent conversations or thoughts. Maybe I'm just used to authors who bring more depth to their characters. I'm not sure whether to base this authors work on one book or try another. Perhaps sometime will give another a try as some seem to like her books.

I love this story!! I picked it up thinking it was part of the Thunder Creek stories and was pleasantly surprised! I loved Jase and Erinn. Great story. A great love story amidst the repercussions of a horrible childhood, greed and that murky grey area that a lot of people have to wade through! I hope there is another from this locale.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a good story, June 11, 2007
This review is from: Wolf River (Mass Market Paperback)
No, there isn't anything spectacular about this story or the way the author writes, but for a book I just picked up on a whim, I really enjoyed it. There are some twists and turns that you won't expect and there are some things that are totally predictable.

If you enjoy books for a good read with no bells and whistles, this is a good one to pick up.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable Big Sky ranch romantic suspense, May 2, 2007
This review is from: Wolf River (Mass Market Paperback)
When she was eighteen Erinn Winters fled her home to escape her abusive father. She became a renowned children's author, but the fame cannot erase the guilt of leaving her younger half sister Devon behind in that monster's household. When she learns her dad is dead, Erinn leaves New York City to begin a quest to reconnect with Devon.

She hires Wayne Cordovan of Cordovan-Smith Securities and Investigations. He succeeds in locating her sibling in Wolf River, Montana. Erinn goes west to see her younger sibling, but Devon rejects her older sister's offer to care for her in New York; having not forgiven her for leaving her behind with their brutal father. However, Erinn refuses to walk away this time as she sees the fear in her sister's eyes that she remembers from when she lived at home. She worries that Devon has moved into an abusive relationship with Hank Wheeler so she rents a cabin from rancher Jace Fortune. Although he vowed never to marry again after a horrendous marriage, Jace is falling in love with his renter and her with him. However, someone is trying to destroy the Fortune Ranch and is willing to commit murder to succeed; Erinn believes it is Hank and his older brother Mick who both work at another ranch although she admits to herself she may be accusing the duo out of her fears for Devon.

WOLF RIVER is an enjoyable Big Sky ranch romantic suspense that sub-genre fans will appreciate. The story line is driven by a strong cast especially Erinn who desperately wants to do the right thing for his sister that she could not have done in the past. Although her paranormal visions add depth, they feel somewhat out of place inside a fabulous family drama starring two strong lead characters and full blooded secondary players adding depth to the tale.
