Book Description

Talk about getting your signals crossed ...

Granite Lake Wolves, Book 1

Robyn Maxwell doesn't care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she's deaf doesn't make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she's been craving.

Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil's one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.

Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn't planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she's not aware she has the genes of a wolf.

Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week--and his bed--is suddenly full.

Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind...

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "talking with your hands". Includes dangerous use of sarcasm and hot nookie in a remote wilderness sauna.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wolf Signs October 26, 2009
By MNix
Format:Kindle Edition
Robyn Maxwell might be deaf but she and her family have not let that stop her. She is a successful baker and outdoors woman. But she just can't seem to find a man she wants to date. She does need a break though and when her brother backs out of their annual trip into the wilderness she decides to go by herself. What she doesn't' count on is meeting the two others who are there at the same time. She meets Keil and his brother and is instantly drawn to Keil.

Keil is in the process of fighting for alpha of his pack. He and his brother are taking some time away from the pack to regroup. Keil never expects to find his mate, and in a woman who doesn't even know she is a wolf. Suddenly everything seems to be happening to him at once... Not quite the relaxing time he expected. Will Keil and Robyn mate? Will Keil win the alpha challenge?

Wolf Signs takes an interesting twist to the normal wolf meets girl story. Robyn is unique as she is deaf. I found the premise of this story fantastic. I love to see "non perfect heroines". There is great potential for this series as we meet many lovable characters in Wolf Signs. The only thing that I didn't love while reading this tale was there were a few awkward sayings and I did think that Robyn took things a little "too in stride". But others might not find fault with these issues. Either way, I still think Wolf Signs and the Granite Lake Wolves Series are worth your while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too short-- Story unfinished February 20, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a pretty good read-- what there was of it. I really felt that the story was unfinished. I enjoyed reading what I thought was a set-up for learning about the pack and their interactions, but the book ended so abruptly that I was surprised and disappointed when I got to the "end." If you like reading short stories or novelettes, then you'll probably enjoy this author. As a series-type reader, I was pretty let down.A lot of potentially good story was left on the table.I didn't get a chance to really build a relationship with any of the characters or see any growth. I even purchased the next book on the chance that it was a teaser kind of prequel for the REAL novel, but book 2 is just as brief. (It DOES, however, overlap this book and provide a little bit of "what happens next.") Hopefully it will help for you know what to expect.

2.0 out of 5 stars To Short, Too Much Sex, Ugh. March 16, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book actually had a lot of promise- and was definitely a good price. It starts off well enough, strong deaf heroine is a nice change. Enter hunky men, and it just became pathetic. Heroine stays the good girl for a time, then it all goes pear shaped. If you were irritated when LKH's Blake series turned into more erotica than plot, skip this book. Or maybe I should say skip this story. I think I finished it in about an hour. The sex scenes were somewhat replusive to me actually (what woman uses the "p" word when describing a sex scene? It was like reading a teenage boy's hustler fantasy).

It's a shame, really, because clearly the author has the ability to tell a good story, she just ruined it with crass sex, not enough plot and not enough story. At the end, I didn't really care what happened to any of the characters, and you know that's never a good sign.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wolf Signs ROCKS! July 11, 2009
By VT121
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book rocks! Seriously. The great thing about shifters is how they know they've found their mate. I love that premise. This one has the added twist of Robyn's deafness and how it affects the mating. Keil is one hot and yummy alpha, and together they are just fantastic.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute February 17, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was cute. A typical mushy hot romance... nothing that unusual or outstanding. But hey man, the price is right (can't beat free!) and if you're in the mood for some romantic sizzle... it'll do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book January 7, 2010
By ElsieT
Format:Kindle Edition
I've been reading for many many years and this book really grabbed my attention. The love story is sensual and not at all predictable. The whole book is very fast paced, unlike some books where you're constantly looking to see how many pages you have left.

I would highly recommend it. And if this is your first e-book or your first 'steamy' book, you won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not great April 1, 2010
By Jessss
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was excited at first. The first starts with a girl named Robyn who is strong and outdoorsy who also happens to be deaf. She is arguing with her brother letting him know that she can go on a trip all by herself. I already liked her. Then, the story takes a shift in to fast, skippy, and lacking luster. The plot goes sour when she runs into two wolves who tell her she's one. She willingy accepts it, accepts that she's the mate of one, and then they have lots of sex where she goes places she's never been willingly. This once fiesty, independent girl became a willing dependent in a matter of a page turn. It was written ok, but the plot went out the window once she got to the cabin. Beyond that, it goes boring and then ends with a girl who on her first night is going to have sex in wolf form in front of the whole pack with her new mate she's known all of a week. I'd say that the girl lost her mind in the woods mostly. Hopefully the writer will get more inventive and risk lengthening the story in order to give more depth to the plot.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good March 14, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've never written a review for a book or product in my life, but I had to write something after reading this "book." I'll first say that this story has a lot of potential. But that's about it. It's a story that is incredibly under-developed. The author should work on developing the characters and story line and focus less on sex to draw the reader in and she might have a good product. As is, it's really not good. With some work, it has potential. I'm glad I got it for free. If I had payed for this, I would not be happy.
