Great Album!,

This review is from: Wolf Tracks by Tom Morrell and the Time-warp Top Hands (Audio CD)
This is my first introduction to Morrell, and it was well worth the purchase. Makes me want to pick up the albums these were picked from. I do have to say that at least with my copy of this album, the back cover says explicitly that this is a collection from the *How the West Was Swung* series. I am not sure which copy a previous reviewer here was refering to.

Poor and good sampling,

This is a sample - or as it seems a deliberate pick - of twelve pieces from a big set of ten CD's "How the West Was Swung". I have not heard these, so a part of this review is guess work. Well then, there is no reason to get excited about this CD. It seems to be a deliberate pick, but the real reasoning ('Why these tracks?') is not explained in the booklet. Tom Morrell knows a steel guitar, sure enough. Listen to one hot ripping track (#5). Sadly, the rest is "allrightish" at best, and some tracks however do not arise above the "uninspired" level. Furthermore, the CD's sound quality is not that good, so that does not help either.
So at last, this CD does not promise many hightlights in the complete set of How the West was Swung. Did the track pickers of "Wolf Tracks" do a good job ? I am afraid they did just that.

A nice album comprised of 12 tracks which have already been published under the "How-the-West-Was-Swung" series by WR Records (Vol.1 through 10). Very little information transpired by the time the album was announced for release, may be to leave potential buyers under the impression this was a new album rather than a "best-of" compilation. If you have bought the WR Records series, you do not necessarily need this album.
