Excellent Story and Interesting Voice.
This story is well written and the cast and reading by the Full Cast Audio crew is very true to the story. I would reccommend this to anyone who travels and wants a good book for listening.

Annoying readers
First off, I have to say I'm a big fan of Tamora Pierce. I loved listening to her Protector of the Small series on audio -- it was read fabulously by Bernadette Dunne. The Alanna series read by Trini Alvorado was also good. Compared to Dunne's multivoice stellar reading, this one is most annoying. Daine's voice is this nasally annoying girl, who...

Annoying readers,

First off, I have to say I'm a big fan of Tamora Pierce. I loved listening to her Protector of the Small series on audio -- it was read fabulously by Bernadette Dunne. The Alanna series read by Trini Alvorado was also good.Compared to Dunne's multivoice stellar reading, this one is most annoying. Daine's voice is this nasally annoying girl, who over-dramatizes and the Numair sounds scripted and unnatural. All of the intonation seems wrong... Worst of all, because of the poor reading humorous or ironic parts are completely lost. In all, I stopped listening because it was so frustrating... and almost drove my car off the highway correcting the readers!! So if you are a fan of listening to Pierce's books -- skip this one. |
