I can't say enough about Nicole Wilde's book. I own a low percentage wolfdog I rescued from a local animal shelter by mistake; That is, I was told he was an Alaskan Malamute, but at his initial veterinary examination, the vet informed me that my gorgeous (but aggressive) 100lb 1-year-old was about 25% wolf! Having had no experience with wolfdogs (and getting recommendations from three animal behaviorists that I destroy him), I realized that this rescue would be quite a challenge. I decided to learn all I could about his species and give him a chance. Through researching the subject on the Internet, I became aware of Ms. Wilde's work with wolfdogs. It was refreshing to find someone so knowledgeable in the field. I consider "Wolfdogs A-Z" an invaluable resource. While reading it, I found that I could easily apply the data and follow Ms. Wilde's advice. The chapter about Winter Wolf Syndrome was one of my favorites, as it gave me information I had not found anywhere else. This book provided answers to many situations I needed help with, including diet and housing methods. Most importantly to me, Nicole Wilde employs positive training techniques which have helped my wolfdog become a more gentle, loyal and affectionate member of our "pack". The book is a perfect blend of humor and instruction. I find it very complete, and a "must read" for anyone who currently owns a wolfdog or is considering the rescue of one. (It's training section is great for "regular" dogs, too, as my Welsh Corgi has responded very well to the techniques!)

If you share your life with wolf-dog crosses, or have an interest in knowing more about wolves and wolfdogs, this book is absolutely essential reading !!! ... Dog owners can also benefit tremendously from the behavioral insights and postive training advice offered.

New owners and long-time owners alike will delight in reading the sections on "Principles of Positive Training" (including how-to's), "Dominance Challenges", "Fear Issues" as well as "Enrichment" (great ideas throughout the book), "Veterinary Care" and much, much more.

I strongly suggest that if you are a breeder, or are involved in rescue that you lay your paws on a number of copies of this book to give to your prospective buyers or adopters. Make it part of your educational program :-) Better yet, combine "Wolfdogs A to Z" with the author's other book, "Living with Wolfdogs" for an all around excellent source of practical advice and information.

I have read Wolf dogs A-Z, and found it to be the most informative book on the subject that I have come across to date. It explains away a multitude of myths that have been prevalent in society today which is being used by those who hold negative opinions of these animals, to win public opinion over to their cause. I especially liked the training section which gives new owners as well as seasoned owners detailed steps to successfully train the wolf dog, and could be used with all canines as well. Open minded trainers of regular canines could well learn that these training methods can be used successfully with little change and effort on their part. And indicates that Wolf dogs can respond to training just as any other dog if given half a chance. I think the section on Understanding canine body language was the most informative of all. 99% of the time new owners of Wolf dogs as well as owners of regular dogs fail to learn the body language their companion is trying to tell them, and often times mistake certain body actions wrongly and the canine usually pays the price for their owners misinterpretations. This book is a fantastic book of learning for potential owners as well as current owners and trainers of wolf dogs and regular dogs as well.

Wolfdogs A-Z is the most authoritative in-depth book ever written on the subject of wolfdog behavior and training. Once again, Nicole Wilde (author of Living With Wolfdogs) combines her years of hands on experience in working with wolfdogs and her positive training approach as a professional dog trainer to produce sound practical methods that achieve astounding results with these sometimes difficult to train canines. I have personally tested the easy to fallow step-by-step methods outlined in the book with my own wolfdogs with fantastic results!

The chapters devoted to understanding wolfdog behavior provide the most down to earth in-depth and precise information available in writing anywhere. How often have you wondered "Why does my wolfdog do that?" You'll find those answers here. The detailed discussions on avoiding undesirable behaviors are invaluable for the first time owner as well the practical tips and advice for modifying behaviors even the most experienced will appreciate.

Added to the books credits are excellent chapters on natural feeding (what is often referred to as BARF: Bones and Raw Food) Fun, safe toys and activities for keeping your companion busy, dispelling the numerous myths regarding these animals and much, much more.

Wolfdogs A-Z is an absolute must have for all wolfdog owners and also highly recommended for people who have one of the more challenging canines of any breed.

This book is the second by Nicole Wilde on the subject of wolfdogs. I think this one and her first, Living with Wolfdogs, are must-have books for any wolfdog owner. Practical advice from someone with experience, entertaining stories, lots of good photos. This book is an easy and fun way to learn more about your wolfdog and how to be a better wolfdog owner.

I had already bought my wolfdog and was trying to read an article a
day on the internet, fighting my mobile because my PC is broke. I ordered your book and it was great. All my questions were mostly answered and lots I didn't know to ask.
I believe my wolfdog and I are much better off because of it. I love my Hendrix and he is just too precious, but on the other hand I respect him for what he is and I know he appreciates that.
Thanks so much for educating me and making mine and my Hendrix life truly intertwined with love and respect.

I currently have two wolfdogs. One is now 15 years old, I have had him since he was born (I owned his mother who was a white alaskan husky) My second wolf dog is 3 years old and is only 20 percent wolf and the rest is German Shepherd and Akita. I read this book after I got Grizzly (my youngest wolf dog) and after reading it I wished I had read it years earlier when Yeller (my oldest wolf dog) was born. It is a great book and it really helps an owner of a wolf dog learn how to deal with them. After owning two wolf dogs, I have come to really appreciate them, infact the more I have owned them, the more I appreciate them more then I do most people. Wolf dogs are, if treated right, one of the most loyal companians you can have. Both my two wolf dogs live with me in my house, they are treated as family members and in return they have treated me and my family with extreme loyalty and devotion. I would recommend this book for anyone considering a wolf dog. Yes, they can be a little attimidating at times but you will always have a friend to talk to (even though they can't talk back, they can be there to listen) and you will always have a loyal and faithful family protector. This is a great book to buy and I have already purchased it for a family member who just got a wolf hybrid puppy.

I loved Nicole Wilde's book! It is very apparent that she is not only very experience but very knowledgeable in working with wolfdogs and her techniques applies to dogs as well. I especially appreciate the positive and down-to-earth approach she takes in tackling everyday situations sometimes associated with owning wolfdogs. In addition, she has a whole section dedicated to nutrition - whether you have a dog or cat! With the recent discoveries of poison in some dog and cat foods, she provides a crucial alternative to feeding packaged foods!

What an invaluable resource to wolfdog owners! As a behaviorist, I occasionally run into wolfdog owners who are completely distraught at the challenge they have taken on. However, this book gives them renewed hope and a plan for successfully living with a wolfdog, providing for the dog's needs and creating a well-managed 'pet'. Thanks Nicole!

I recently became interested in Wolf dogs after i lost my golden retriever. Reading as many articles about them & looking at photos, i knew i wanted one. i began doing a lot of research on the internet & looking for books to read. I discovered Nicole Wilde's books & purchased both of them. Both books gave me a tremendous amount of insight on the wolf dog. As i read, i jotted down note after note so that i can keep it with me while i train (???) my new pet. Nicole's books were very easy reading, had good photos & a good sense of humor thrown in. I highly recommend these books to anyone that is considering getting a wolf dog. I have since purchased a pup & cannot wait to get him.
