3.0 out of 5 stars All they had to do was Transfer the original
I have to agree with everyone here on the censorship issue. I was extremely ______ because it was _______ !!! (use whatever cuss words you find necessary). I guess they were worried about getting in trouble, like getting a bad name, racist issues or whatever. I guess they were worried about getting in trouble, like getting a bad name, racist issues or whatever. You know how some people are, they would start something and I guess that's what they're thinking. Anyways, the original Wolfenstein 3D is classic, just like Doom. The SNES version is in no comparison but it's still worth playing. This game is pretty rare now. If you beat Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, you will be able to play the original.

2.0 out of 5 stars Censorship is a *****!, November 27, 2003

While I have to give it some stars for being wolf3d at heart this doesn't quite cut it. All swastikas have been removed as so not to offend anyone. Nazi speak english and die bloodlessly. Hitler has shaved his trademark mustache and changed his name to Staatmeister. Worst of all the censorship that nintendo did was change the dogs into mutant rats. So in summation it's kinda like the PC but is horrendously censored.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad Port but still Wolfenstein, August 1, 2011

The SNES port of Wolfenstein 3d isn't really that good, and the censorship gets in the way of what made the original so great, but at the end of the day it's still Wolfenstein. If you're a wolfenstein fan and a snes fan, add this to your collection. The levels are slightly different from the original which makes it a somewhat different run through from the original, which will still keep you entertained despite censorship and low quality graphics (compared to pc)

3.0 out of 5 stars WOLFENSTEIN DOES'NT WORK ON THE RETRO DUO!, August 27, 2010

This is an excellent game, though editing out all the Nazi stuff for the SNES version kind of sucks. It was still a good game though as I remembered it. The Problem is that I bought it again, planning to play it on my Retro Duo and it is incompatable. Somone needs to update the list of games incompatable with the Retro Duo and add Wolfenstein 3D SNES on there. Now I know alot of games with the FX chip don't work for the RD, but oddly DOOM for SNES did and it has that FX thingy. Wolfenstein has no FX chip and still Doesn't work. If you goat a Retro Duo and want to play a first person shooter-- get DOOM for SNES.

4.0 out of 5 stars Censorship kind of an issue, April 20, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wolfenstein 3D (Video Game)
I must admit as much as I want to give this game credit, why did they censor it? I don't care about the gore or anything although I will admit it made it comical and/or more action packed. However why are you shooting crazy giant rats, evidently shooting dogs is so much worse both are animals. I would go farther, but it's not necessary, now this next thing maybe a positive or a negative more than likely a negative to the fans. This game isn't actually Wolfenstein 3D so I'm told it's actually more like Wolfenstein 3D and it's sequels greatest hits (only briefly played the original PC game). Plus it's shorter than the PC I understand that PC version had 60 stages and the SNES only has 30. Now why do I say 4 stars you say mainly two reason's one being the game plays very smooth and has a logical enough progression. For a person who just wants to play a Wolfenstein game and don't want the PC version this game is fine, also you benefit from playing stages from both games(1 & 2). The second big pro is well this game is pretty advanced for it's time. I mean slightly dumbed down graphics, but the game holds true in it's game play in relation to it's PC counterpart. All and all if you want an idea what Wolfenstein 3D is and you aren't a hardcore fan of the PC game, you will most likely enjoy this and please do. Doors are hidden in the same areas slightly shorter load times than the PC version and you don't need to turn on you computer it's a good port. If you want an exact port seek elsewhere it couldn't happen this system just wasn't built for it. All and all good game that suffers from a few flaws and wasn't 100% true to it's PC counterpart.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst Wolfenstein, August 23, 2009
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wolfenstein 3D (Video Game)
The graphics of this game sucked. But people would have to know that because this game didn't have any kind of an FX chip. Nintendo is a great video game manufacturer but sometimes they have no gumption.
The Nazis attack dogs in the SNES version were replaced by mutant rats because animal rights activists said that killing dogs is immoral. It's not immoral to kill dogs if those dogs are trying to kill you. And that's exactly what they they do in Wolfenstein.
Nintendo also had no gumption about the paintings of Hitler in the SNES version. They had the mustaches in the Hitler paintings removed to try to disguise Hitler. Who the hell did they think they were kidding? It was obvious to even three year olds that it was Hitler in the paintings.
Thank God that 3DO and Atari had gumption when wolfenstein was released for their systems. The 3DO and Jaguar versions have the attack dogs and the paintings of Hitler have his mustache.
The 3DO and Jaguar versions also had Swastikas in them. Unlike the SNES version. I know that the Swastika is a symbol of hate. But it was the symbol that the Nazis used and it would've been more realistic to include them in the SNES Wolfenstein like they did in the 3DO and Jaguar versions.
Nintendo is having no gumption again. The new version of Wolfenstein is being released for the Play Station 3 and the XBOX 360. But not for the WII.
If you play the SNES Wolfenstein after playing the 3DO version, you'll feel sick. That's how much better that the 3DO version was. I give the SNES Wolfenstein a 1 star rating.
