I had dinner at a friends house who cooked a salmon dinner to die for. I asked her for the recipe and she showed me this book!

Who would have thought the chef of the Oscars and stars would have a "diet" book, but if you have noticed, he has been losing some weight. He says the secret to his weight lose is a lot more veggies and smaller portions (of course he also,exercises...darn, but, he shares a lot of them with us).

He has been making his rounds of all,the talk shows and giving out some recipes. You can find some online.

Don't worry, I won't leave you hanging without giving you his recipe for his salmon (Asian style), so here it is:

1 cup white wine
1 teaspoon peanut oil
4 sprigs cilantro
3 kaffir lime leaves
3 scallions, chopped
1 jalapeno, diced
1 stalk lemongrass, chopped

You take the ingredient above (your steaming liquid) and out it in a large pan.

Then, to this steaming pan you add the ingredients below. Then all you have to do is cover and steam for 5 minutes:

6 baby bok choy, cut in half
4 salmon fillets
1 carrot, shredded
1 stalk celery, shredded
1 leek, finely chopped
Kosher sal

That is it, serve and enjoy. :)

Let me start by saying that I love food and I frequent Wolfgang’s restaurants often. Equally, I love fitness and work out daily. As someone who loves food but values fitness I find myself in a bind between being “good” and "digging in”. This book is the ultimate solution for me!

Instead of diet gimmicks and theories that will pass with the next fad, it is all about delicious healthy meals with recipes that I can actually follow for good. Did I mention they are DELICIOUS?! Wolfgang manages to take some all time favorite and classic foods and truly lighten them up without making them into boring “diet foods” void of flavor.

On top of it all – Wolfgang lets us in on his workout routine with one of the worlds most coveted fitness experts, Chad Waterbury! I really appreciate how they offered workout tips during travel and wonderful pictures showing proper form and technique. I was so impressed with the workouts that I am ordering Chad’s other book TODAY!

So lets recap…HEALTHY, DELICIOUS and SIMPLE recipes by hands down one of the best chefs in existence coupled with EXPERT WORKOUT ROUTINES by one of the best fitness experts in the world…this is pretty much the most perfect book to come out this year! And with all of the stunning professional photographs of each dish, this makes a wonderful gift too. I have already ordered it for 5 people as gifts!

THIS IS A MUST HAVE BOOK!

Love this cookbook and I would and will make quite a few of the recipes!!! Easy enough for the homecook. Healthy, interesting, not boring food!!!!

Like that he makes substitutes for vegetarians, for example, chicken stock is used a lot in this book. Wolfgang suggests vegetable broth as an alternative. Great because sometimes I wonder if it will taste as good.

I saw Wolfgang on "The Chew" pushing this book. I felt that it would fit into my style of eating and would be easy to make recipes. But I was completely mislead! The recipes have on average 20 ingredients each and way too many instructions for my tastes. I like simple foods, easy to prepare yet healthy. Disappointed with the book and will "re-gift" as soon as possible.

I have enjoyed reading the recipes and tagging the ones I want to make soon. But the section on exercise is especially fantastic. I have come late in life to the realm of exercise with its own vocabulary. Here, in the book, I find explanations and pictures that I can understand and do.

This book covers how to make great healthy food. It also covers an exercise program that Chef Puck has had great success with. My only caveat is that he gets the definition of a calorie wrong. The definition he gives is number 1 (Please see below). This is the definition used by chemists. The definition for food is number 2 (Also given below). I teach physics at a University, so I know these things. The definitions given below are from wikipedia.

"The name calorie is used for two units of energy.

1.) The small calorie or gram calorie (symbol: cal) is the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius.

2.)The large calorie, kilogram calorie, dietary calorie, nutritionist's calorie, nutritional calorie, Calorie (capital C) or food calorie (symbol: Cal, equiv: kcal) is approximately the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. The large calorie is thus equal to 1000 small calories or one kilocalorie (symbol: kcal)."

In summary, healthy food and an exercise program from the only Iron Chef to win all his battles.

After trying every diet over the years( Atkins, Low fat, No sugar, Cabbage soup, ..on and on..And some provided great success.. I'm SURE you know them ALL if you're reading this) AND LOTS of exercise plans... i believe this book offers THE WAY to lose and maintain weight loss AND enjoy food and not have to NOT EAT the food I love.. and most important, the food i end up cheating with anyway!
1)First of all, look at Mr. Pucks success. He has lost the weight and KEPT IT OFF FOR SEVERAL YEARS. This is KEY.
2)HIS FOOD TASTES FABULOUS.. A MUST FOR ME. I LOVE FOOD. i cannot or will not live without tasty food! Life is short:) His recipes provide a way to lose weight AND enjoy DELiCOUS FOOD! BRAVA!!
3)And his exercise program is BrILLIANT!! After YEARS of various exercise programs, and many that worked... what I kNOW for sure is it is CONSISTENCY that is the key:)
I am buying THiS BOOK and sending it to all my friends as well!
