Richard A. Knaak is the New York Times bestselling author of some three dozen novels, including the The Sin War trilogy for Diablo and the Legend of Huma for Dragonlance. This book primarily focuses on the exploits of the Gryphon, the mysterious lion-bird and ally of Cabe Bedlam. The Gryphon--accompanied by Morgis, a drake--journeys to the land of his creation to uncover the secrets of his past...and confront a force of incredible power and evil. An excellent read, especially for those fans of Lord Gryphon.

This book surprised me. I am a fan of Knaak because he got me into reading fantasy with the legend of huma. I picked up firedrake just to support one of my favorite authors but was shocked to find it was not written well; however, the world created was amazing. the book should of been a thousand pages for all that happened in it. i continued to ice dragon and thought the story was not as good but the writing was much improved. Wolfhelm did not interest me that much because the gryphon who is cool and could be a great main character seemed to going in the wrong direction of what i though would be entertaining. I was wrong because this book was brilliant in which it was written and the story that it held. The best of the three and now i am eager to continue the dragonrealm series. thank you Knaak for renewing my love for your writing.
