Book Description

In Los Angeles the question on everyone’s lips… “Who is the Invisible Assassin?” The elusive hit man who has the authorities baffled, the general public intrigued and the local gangland highbrows hiding behind razor wire and hi-tec weaponry.

With the city’s second most powerful crime family slaughtered, Joshua Grenire is pressed into action by his mentor, Max Barlow: hunt and kill the assassin. Though burdened by social inexperience and the crushing responsibility of his mission, he is at the same time buoyed with child-like wonder at the prospect of finally interacting with ordinary people.

Once in L.A. Joshua infiltrates the Durant crime syndicate and acquaints himself with the mobster’s spirited civilian daughter, Genna Delucio. He finds himself breaking one of the rules by falling for the girl. While after nightfall he searches coldly for the assassin, during daylight hours he steals time to explore the simple rites of passage that long-term seclusion has denied him.

In a modern society blood-stained with intolerance and prejudice, street violence and contract killing, Invisible Assassin is a story about love and innocence struggling against the corrupting nature of power.

Novel length 213 pages

“Good story and good read, well-managed conclusion with all the right things happening in the right order. The characters were fresh and thought-through and although the 'they live among us' notion has been done before, the setup and the back-story were persuasive and felt newly-minted. I really liked the idea of the Wolfkind community living like the Amish or the Moravians, the whole moral-responsibility issue of their attempts to contain their 'virus', and the destructive nature of the religious guilt Barlow uses as a tool. Nice that Barlow did what he did for the best, but harm still came of it... quite a subtle and truthful-feeling outcome.”....... “I was impressed by the ending, which was very sure-footed and, as I've said, hit all the right notes in the right sequence.”

Stephen Gallagher, best selling author of White Bizango, Red. Red Robin and The Boat House.

Wolfkind does not operate under classic werewolf rules, a definite plus!
We meet Joshua as he travels cross-country from his isolated home in New Hampshire to LA, charged with halting a werewolf gone bad, albeit, its victims have all been organized crime ring members. Joshua is young, sensitive, inexperienced in life and innocent. All that is about to change! Hunting his prey, Joshua seeks friendship with Genna, estranged daughter of the biggest crime boss, believing that the wayward wolf must be part of his syndicate. He's right (sort of), but Genna triggers new feelings in him. She rejects the tenets of his teacher, Barlow, that he is an abomination by reason of birth, and sows the seeds of self-respect. Meanwhile, he finds the "Invisible Assassin" he seeks, which creates an all-new and very human dilemma.
This book has a strong plot, powerful characters, and offers plenty of food for thought - when the reader has time to come up for air! It is paced well and with the scenario of "werewolf meets crime boss" the mayhem is guaranteed. BTW, the werewolf is not the most vicious player in this excellent yarn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good July 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book, I really thought at first I wasn't going to like it at all. It started kind of slow and I was not real sure what was going on but after a few pages it starts to come together better and you get more of a sense of what it's about. Also the more you read about Joshua the main character the more you begin to get attached and want to know how things work out.

This is not your usual werewolf story, but in my opinion it was excellently written. A story well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing and predictable. June 4, 2013

I'm a bit torn on this one. It was very entertaining but parts of the story were a bit cliched. This was something worth reading even though you can see where it's going to end up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not earth shattering but a good solid read. May 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. It was a different take on the familiar werewolf theme and held my interest throughout. The bad guys aren't always the animals and this story does a good job of pointing that out. It could be called predictable but I find that satisfying at times and appropriate in this instance. There are some editing issues but not enough to take away from the overall enjoyment of the story. It's a good solid read and I'll recommend it to others.
