"Un-freakin-believable!!" and "This is truly one of the best YA Paranormal novels that I have ever read..." —

"I just can't say enough how much I loved this book!"—

"A fast-paced, intriguing start to the Shapes of Autumn series, My Wolf's Bane is an awesome read." — Susan Hatler, International bestselling author

NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: As with any Veronica Blade book, this is a ROMANCE NOVEL, meaning it's romance FIRST and everything else is secondary. Rated PG-13 for sexual situations and mild profanity.

Different species. Mortal enemies. It'll never work, but they'll die trying.

Autumn Rossi thought she was a normal teenager. Suddenly, she can outrun every critter in the forest, making her wonder if she’s even human.

When the new guy at school, Zack de Luca, witnesses a questionable scene, he unfairly pins her as stuck-up. He acts like he hates her, yet he keeps bailing her out of trouble. Not only is Zack both insufferable and irresistible, he seems to sniff her anytime he gets close.

As passion flares between them, Autumn isn’t sure which is more dangerous: her psycho ex-boyfriend, or falling for Zack — who’s risking his life just by being near her.

See the book trailer:

The smell of unwashed wolf closed in on me, fur tickling my skin and fetid breath in my face. I trembled, hot tears burning my eyes. The wolf snarled and I scrambled back as he leapt toward me.

“Autumn. Autumn, wake up.” Zack pulled me off the pillow by my shoulders.

I lifted my head and rubbed my eyes, trying to wipe away the mental fuzz. But I was aware enough to notice my comforter wasn’t anywhere near us, certainly not separating me from him. I must have kicked it off during my nightmare.

“Are you okay?” Zack was sitting directly in front of me, his thighs straddling mine, heat from his bare skin radiating through me.

I nodded.

He exhaled in relief and leaned back to sit on his heels. “Heard you scream and I ran up here. Been calling your name over and over, but you wouldn’t wake up. Scared me for a minute there.”

I’d been having that same dream where I was being chased. “I was running from wolves.”

He brushed a finger down my cheek. “It was just a dream.”

“More like a nightmare,” I whispered, my gaze locking onto his. He wore nothing but a pair of boxers. As my ragged breath slowed, I realized the only other thing between us was my threadbare tank top and skimpy panties.

“Autumn.” His breathing quickened and he growled so low it sounded like a purr. Then he tilted my face to meet his and drew closer until I felt his breath on my skin. “You’re too beautiful.”

Book two in the Shapes of Autumn series, Wolves at the Door, will release February 1st, 2014.

4.0 out of 5 stars Werewolves!! September 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
It's not often that I turn down, or fail to enjoy, a werewolf story. There's just something about this hot, sexy beast, that I'm drawn too. And Zack was no exception.

Autumn walks out of the room and promptly bumps into a strange, extremely hot guy, only to have her boyfriend Daniel arrive on the scene, act like an arrogant jackass, telling him to keep his hands off his girlfriend, and leaving the new guy, Zack, with the opinion that Autumn is equally as obnoxious.

Autumn is appalled but let's Daniel lead her away so as not to make anymore of a scene. When she spots Zack at lunch, he looks at her with utter contempt. He appears to hate her, but yet always seems to be around when she needs someone, like when her car breaks down.

This is totally my type of book. Zack is a wonderful character, who seems to constantly be the knight in shining armour even though its completely against his nature. He continues to help and look out for Autumn, even knowing it could get both of them killed. Autumn and Zack's relationship begins as one of mutual dislike, but when they get pushed together when his cousin starts dating Autumn's friend, things gradually begin to change between them. Zack knows what's coming for Autumn and he wants to be there to help her through it.

When Daniel goes from annoying ex-boyfriend to complete psycho, Zack is the only other person who knows the truth about him and can protect Autumn from him.

This book won't be for everyone. There are the cliches that I know some people don't like. These don't bother me or impact in any way on my enjoyment of the book. In fact, they may actually make me enjoy it more. This is actually quite a sweet little romance, and I think anyone who likes that will enjoy it.

So, while this book wasn't perfect, I'm not going to nit pick. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed April 13, 2013
By Ann
Format:Kindle Edition
The myriad of 5-star reviews is the reason I bought this book, and I must confess myself to be underwhelmed by what I read. This is a two dimensional book, lacking the depth needed to make it a captivating romance. Autumn and Zack did nothing for me as a couple. There were several things that I found absurd such as the super strict parents suddenly agreeing to leaving Autumn alone for weeks on end. I won't be continuing the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars I LIKED IT!!! July 9, 2014

Once I read the book’s description I immediately wanted to read it! I love books that have paranormal romance and just romance in general. Why? Because the imagination and creativity that goes into these types of books is incredible; truly fascinating. Yes, there are millions of shapeshifter/paranormal books in the world that have werewolves, vampires, etc., yet no two books are the same.

As you begin reading, it’s just like any other high school romance story that involves a girl, her crazy boyfriend (soon to be ex) and a hot new guy. Yet, as you continue to read you start to notice it’s not what you first thought.

So it all starts when Zack de Luca saves Autumn Rossi from tripping and humiliating herself in front of everyone at school. Not so bad, right? Well it so happens Autumn’s boyfriend, Daniel, witnesses the whole situation and decides to put the new guy in his place. Autumn’s too shocked to do anything, until it’s too late. Zack already has an impression of her, and it isn’t a good one. Apparently, Zack isn’t interested in having Autumn in his welcoming committee.

Autumn gets the impression Zack hates her and she couldn’t be more right. Yet, every time Autumn finds herself in trouble, he’s always there, helping her out. She starts the notice things about her that aren’t normal and guess who’s there helping her through it all? Nope, not Daniel. It’s Zack. Apparently, they may have something in common. Yet, it’s something that’ll never work in their favor, something that’ll keep them apart. Well, more like Zack apart from Autumn.

While I loved Autumn’s character, I couldn’t help but cringe every time she kept throwing herself at Zack; facing his endless rejections.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book so so ending June 23, 2014
By Jay
Format:Kindle Edition
I would definitely recommend this to any lovers of YA paranormal romance.
I really enjoyed the read, at first I really felt like I was reading but as I got more into to story I started to get drawn in and enjoyed myself I finished it within a day.

Werewolves, shape shifters, psycho ex-boyfirend's, jealous conniving ex-best friends, over protective parents is there anything that this book doesn't have.

The only thing I can complain about is the ending it left me feeling unsatisfied, because it felt to anticlimactic like nothing actually was accomplished. But don't take that to heart there is another book and this one was great I'm getting ready right now for book two

3.0 out of 5 stars Really liked it June 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the storyline, but I did think there were some things that weren't developed enough. I found it odd that these super strict parents suddenly left for weeks on end after being so overtly protective. I liked the building relationship between Autumn and Zach. I will go on and read the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE TO READ MARVELOUS December 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I rated this book 5 stars, this book will have you glued to the pages from the first sentence to the last sentence of the book. It's a OMG moment!L that how AWESOME the storyline is.
I recieve this book to read and give a honest review, this is a great start for a great series. This one is a exciting and marvelous Zack feels he has to choose between Autumn and being a lone to keep Autumn safe. Before Autumn was dating Daniel and Zack thought she was suck up spoil pretty girl. He's not very nice to her because he was also trying to resist her, but when Daniel became Autumn ex boyfriend he, I'd go so far as to say he became a possessive jerk. Daniel become a obsess with Autumn and will try to force her to his will, but Zack steps in to help and then he realizes Autumn isn't humane but a shape shilfer, he now has to protect her from other werewolves who would want to make a slave of Autumn.
I liked Zack, he's protective, handsome, tall and sexy. I was disappointed at first because I thought I just knew what Zack would do that is he would leave that's how he was going to hurt and break Autumn's heart before they were allowed to be together. I think that this author is very good at the way she lets her characters identify with life. I would recommend this to a teen who likes to read or just starting to read and anyone who likes to read shilfter books this would make a good gift.

As usual this is a great werewolves novel and a good addition to a series. Of course I'll continue to buy future books to see what happens next.
All the above is what I think of this Author, I absolutely loved reading this series, I can't wait to read more of Zack and Autumn to see what has happened to their hot relationship, and learn more about Autumn's parents.

More About the Author

Veronica Blade lives in Southern California with her husband and children. By day she runs the family business, but each night she slips away to spin her tales. She writes stories about young adults to relive her own childhood and to live vicariously through her characters. Except her heroes and heroines lead far more interesting lives--and they are always way hotter.

That's the official bio. The unofficial bio is that I, Veronica Blade, am an addict. I love all things vampires, witches and werewolves--the more romantic, the better! My favorite shows are The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. And, okay, I admit it, I'm still a huge Buffy fan.

If you're looking for some sweet romance, my current list is as follows:

Something Witchy This Way Comes
Thrown to the Wolves (Shapes of Autumn, prequel)
My Wolf's Bane (Shapes of Autumn, book 1)
Wolves at the Door (Shapes of Autumn, book 2)
A Bite's Tale: A Furry Fable
Blind Date, Checkmate
From Fame to Shame
Single Girls micro trilogy (Single-handed, Singled Out, Single-minded)

For extras and news on upcoming releases, please subscribe to my newsletter at If you'd like to contact me, you can find me at (I answer all my emails personally) or FaceBook--where I spend way too much time. I've been also been known to tweet a time or two at @VeronicaBlade. I look forward to hearing from you!!

Happy reading!
