Hurley's a king of acid-folk--hanging and recording with the Holy Modal Rounders and the Fugs, he certainly has the right pedigree. He also hand-produced his LPs of the 1970s, which are beautiful and quite valuable. Slowly his records are being re-issued on CD and he's even been touring a bit. Wolfways is one of his finest, with a delicate off-center (and occasionally off-key) feel, featuring fiddle, banjo and washboard. Hurley is as Americana as they come. --D. Strauss
