4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and loud for a motorcyle, but mounting might be tricky.
I bought this for my motorcycle, since the stock horn sounds like something that belongs on a child's tricycle. I bought this for my motorcycle, since the stock horn sounds like something that belongs on a child's tricycle. The toughest part of the installation is mounting it so that compression of the front struts doesn't hit the horn. I had to use two metal mounts (doubled together for strength) that came with stock horns I had lying around. Once I bent them at 90 degree angles, I was able to mount the horn using the bolt and nut that comes with the Wolo, as well as the mount bolt on the stock horn. Wiring is pretty easy and straightforward. I just re-drew the diagram so that I could read it without a magnifying glass. Keep in mind that the instructions tell you that it doesn't matter which wire on the Wolo goes to ground or the battery, but it definitely does matter. When I first tried the horn it sounded like a dying moose; but when I switched the wires around it roared to life and scared the hell out of me. You will definitely be heard out there on the road!

4.0 out of 5 stars It is loud, November 2, 2008

We purchased this horn to provide a louder replacement for the stock horn on our Mazda speed6. It did the trick. It has a unique but pleasant sound and roughly 50% louder than the pair of orginal horns. Installation was easy and horn appears to be well constructed. We have had it for about 3 months now with no problems. It is hidden inside a wheel well so can't see if there is any corrosion but it is working fine. Overall a very good replacement or upgrade horn.

I really like the horn, and the great sound will make it much safer on my bike now. However, I must say that I was disappointed when it arrived and I found to safely install it on my Harley, I need to go out an purchase additional hardware. The product futures state "One-piece design requires no hoses and installs in minutes by simply transferring the factory horn wires to the compressor... The Bad Boy is compact in size to fit any car, truck, motorcycle and any 12 volt vehicle". The package goes further and states "Installs in minutes without special tools...complete with all mounting hardware". Not true if you plan to mount it on a motorcycle. The instructions require that you use a relay (provided), run additional wiring from the battery and the horn, and install an in line fuse (all not included) before it would work without possibly damaging the bikes electrical system. The additional requirement, cost and effort to install almost led me to send it back. However, I decided to keep it and despite the misleading advertising and additional cost I am glad I kept it because it sounds great and is LOUD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, January 29, 2011

I purchased this horn based on good reviews I've read here and at the Suzuki Volusia Owners website. I installed the horn without too much fuss. I found a $0.67 piece of angle steel at Home Depot, drilled out a 10mm and 8mm hole on each side, bought some metric nuts/bolts to fit, unplugged my stock horn, added a few inches of wire, hooked up the horn and bolted it on. Took all of 15 minutes and most of that was sitting around drinking coffee in the hot Arizona sun. The horn is fairly represented in that it is quite loud, easy to install, and the shipping time was super speed - got it in a day and a half from ordering. To say I'm satisfied is an understatement. I highly recommend this horn. Please make sure you do some research on installing this horn on your motorcycle. There may be some electrical issues you'll have to deal with. I didn't have a problem, but the necessary hardware is included in the package, except for wires and connectors. If you want a loud horn, this will do fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good alternative to factory horn, August 17, 2009

Willing to increase safety by installing a louder horn, this horn did the trick. The installation was simple and the horn outperforms the factory horn in my 87 Honda Magna; the dual tone sounds much nicer. Keep in mind that, as the manufacturer suggested, using the enclosed relay means that you will need to purchase 16-gauge wire to run the battery-to-horn circuit which will be activated by the motorcycle horn button.

I bought this product for installation on a motorcycle to replace the wimpy factory horn.

A nice product. Almost looks like a copy of the similar Stebel product with chromed plastic "horn" to direct the sound and dress the unit up some. "Some" being the important word. The chrome plactic cover on this product does not cover all the zinc steel body and leaves that zinc body and the ugly black plastic bottom very visible. The product being called CHROME infers that all visible parts are CHROMED and they are not. That is probably the only drawback of the product. Wiring was idiot proof with the wiring diagram and relay included. Needed items other than hand tools were some crimp on spade terminals and wire. The "mounting" point of this horn could also be a bit larger and include some type of chromed or stainless steel clamp or band for mounting to a motorcycle frame. The item is certainly priced right. I have a Stebel on another bike and as for noticeable volume/decibels difference between the 2, it is close but I think the Stebel may be a slight bit louder.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exponentially louder than stock, March 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Purchased this horn hoping to upgrade the extremely anemic factory horn on my '07 Kawasaki Nomad. Installation was straightforward and I was able to rig it onto the factory bracket using some bolts and washers I had laying around the garage. Tucked the included relay in under the tank and zip tied it in place, used shrink tubing and quick connect lugs and I'm confident I have a weather resistant installation. One rainy weekend I believe I will create a better fit and look by making a bracket out of a piece of 1" x 3" flat bar which will allow me to tuck it in real nice on the Nomad. Chrome finish could be a little better, especially on the compressor section and I suspect the finish on the plastic parts will not last forever, but for the price it is sufficiently attractive. Factory horn looked better, but looks aren't everything. It is far louder than my old factory horn and the factory horns on the Harleys and Yamahas that I ride with, but I'm not buying WOLO's 139 db claim either. It's loud but not THAT loud. Would have given it 5 stars if the finish was better.

3.0 out of 5 stars wolo 519 Bad Boy air horn, September 10, 2009

I love the idea of this item. I ride a Harley Davidson Road King and drive long distances. Last trip was to the West Coast and back. The horn works great but please check out the packaging before you open it. Mine was opaque and It clearly looked like new old stock and I could not see the item clearly and once the package is open it's destroyed, so returning it in the packaging is an impossibility. Mine had blemishes on the main body the "plastic chrome" appears to be peeling off and looks pretty bad. To return it would be more hassle and cost than it's worth. The horn is great but unless I was offered a replacement at no cost to me I would not bother to return it. It bothers me that this is the only thing on my motorcycle that looks bad. People look at the horn and try it. They love the sound but always ask " What's up with the finish" I always tell them to check the packaging well before opening. The horn is great but poor packaging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little horn, August 3, 2011
This review is from: Wolo Model 519 Bad Boy Chrome One Piece Design Air Horn Kit - 12 Volt (Misc.)
I own a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard C-90T. The stock horn was so silent that my wife could not hear me when I was right beside her on the freeway. I baught this horn expecting to spend at least an hour installing it...Well, 10 minutes into the project I was finished. It bolted right up, and the only customization I had to make was to extend the wiring, which with two male and two female connectors and 4 inches of double wire the job was finished...If you put the wires on backward the horn does not work.

This horn is plenty loud. It sounds good, and the only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is that it is build cheaply...I'm not sure how long the "chrome (or plastic)" will hold up, but I shall see.
