At first I was skeptical about the Amphibian Carbon Fiber boot, but after I received them I am very pleased.

    Good quality and comfortable boots.

Due to the design of the lacing eyelets, you are not able to tighten them up all of the way, so they feel very big.

The carbon fiber safety toe makes that much a difference.

I did commercial electrical contract work for nearly 4 years and went through two ACL tears and repairs (each knee). After both surgeries, I found wearing steel toe safety toe work boots to be like working with my feet strapped to two concrete cinder blocks all day. My knees no longer had the same strength to bear the weight, so you can imagine these Amphibians by Wolverine were a Godsend! These boots are nearly as light as an average tennis shoe, and that's not exaggerating! The carbon fiber safety toe makes that much a difference. The Gore-Tex material also offers water resistance and have kept my feet dry when having to work out in the rain. So far, these boots have been through some tough jobs, and they don't even show a hint of fatigue. After wearing a pair of these, you'll never go back to traditional steel toes any longer. Especially if your'e an electrician, because an added bonus of the carbon fiber toe is that its non-conductive. Awesome, would definitely buy another pair!

**UPDATE** 5/24/11 - Although I no longer do electrical contracting work, I still wear the Amphibians to work, they are that comfortable and light! They are only beginning to show the slightest signs of eventual wear, mainly where the safety toe stops and the other material begins. Slight tear there, but that's to be expected, as it happens to all safety-toe boots eventually. Still going strong, and I still highly recommend these!

I have no idea why others have had problems with the waterproofing on these boots. I have now worn them outside for 4 months going ankle deep in water with no problems. The carbon toe is lighter than my previous steel toe and I will be buying another pair shortly for home use. I work outside for 8 hours or more each day, on my feet and really like these boots. For those of you who care, these are one of the few boots that are " vegan" i.e. no leather, safety toe boots on the market. At least that I have found. Price here is good too (Amazon).

Not the american handmade boots I thought they were. They are made in China. I havnt even worn them for 6 months yet, and they are falling apart. The lacing eyelets at the bottom were the 1st to go, and they are breaking from the bottom on up. The plastic on the heal is coming apart. Due to the design of the lacing eyelets, you are not able to tighten them up all of the way, so they feel very big. My foot fits, but just cant tighten them down any further. Also a very thin foot pad inside. Not the "durashock" quality as advertised. I was ripped off.

This was my 2nd set of Wolverine boots that I'd purchased the first pair I bought (wasn't this model) lasted me 4 years with constant abuse and wear and tear on them. These boots had much less abuse and wear and tear than the previous ones. Within a year the laces stripped apart and had to be replaced (not a bit deal). Then a few months after having them for a year the sides started to tear off and expose the 2nd layer in the boot. The composite tow part is also punching through both sides of the boots on both of the boots. These defiantly aren't great quality like my first pair of wolverines were (that pair was made in the US), this pair I didn't realize was made in China. I'm going to be looking at another brand from now on as I cant have a pair of boots falling apart yearly, ever boot I've ever owned I get 2-3 years out of and expect that.

Comfortable so far, can be in these boots 16hrs a day! Very light and no metal so as an airport worker they do not set off metal detector.

these are rugged and breathable but will keep your feet warm on a cold day with proper sockage.... they are GREAT for wide feet.... had to return other boots because there "extra wide" ratings were bs.... I'm comfy in a 12 triple E and these are perfect!

First, am a very large man @ 400lbs, very active and work a job where I am on my feet 14 plus hours a day. I started purchasing the Wolverine Hudson work boots a few years back when I found them on sale and they ended up being the first shoe/boot that I was able to wear for more than 2 months with out the soles coming apart. This time around I was looking for a waterproof boot with goretex to wear through the winter. I received them a week ago and have worn them every day since. They are very light and have the typical superior Wolverine build quality. They needed no break in time and were comfortable right out of the box. I have a very large, wide foot which in other brands varies between a 12.5 3E and 13 4E. I ordered the same 13 3E as I have in all of my other Wolverine shoes/boots, and the fit is superb. I'm anxious to see how they do in the snow. They do seem to hold a little more heat than the hudson's but still very comfortable on warm days. I can honestly say, when it comes to work, I will never purchase anything other than Wolverine products for my feet.
