After The Burial have become somewhat of a scapegoat to hate on for the "metal elitists" and that's fine because someone has to be that band. Truth of the matter is, those people are just scared or maybe even jealous because they know deep down that ATB are at the top of their game and leading the way in the "DJENT" category(along with Periphery). This is all just my opinion however, but I honestly love this music and have listened to every band of this new genre that I can find and ATB are the best I have found. The rhythm section is outstanding and pummeling and so heavy that it'll make your ears bleed. The 2 Eight string guitars are masterfully played and the skill set of these guys add a very distinctly unique aspect to this music and they are sorely underrated and underappreciated in the metal community. Last but not least, the star of the album in my humble opinion is the vocalist. I, myself am a vocalist so I'm partial but the things this guy can pull off is astounding and so impressive. I just recently saw them live and everything you hear on their albums is brought with full force and accuracy in their live show and sometimes it's even better than the album. This review won't make you like this style of music if you already hate it and neither will this album BUT if you dig the wonders that is DJENT mixed with a plethora of heavy riffing goodness and breakdowns that will actually cause physical pain then this is the band for you and the album for you.

They've had a few years absence but they come back with a bang! I like and own all of their other releases but this one takes the cake. Production is top notch and the songs are very well structured. If you like After the Burial at all, don't hesitate to buy this. It's all I expected and more. In a market flooded with bands like this, they still stand out as one of the best.

Album of the year for me. People complain about the production, but after listening to it through some good speakers I actually started to like it. Disconnect is probably the best song the band has written. Pennyweight, Virga, and Parise are also some really awesome tracks. In all, it's a great album that you should definitely give a listen.

I saw these guys open for Trivium, without knowing a note of their songs, and was blown away!!!!! I've had 3 weeks to pour over their back catalogue, and while I can understand why fans who have been with them since the beginning might be upset that Wolves isn't as technical as Rareform, that doesn't mean that Wolves doesn't kick major ass. People need to realize that bands evolve, and change, if they wrote the same album 5 times, they would get stale, and boring. In conclusion, BUY THIS CD, it'll be the best $11 bucks that you've spent in a long time.

despite the band being pigeon holed into the "djent" scene, i think this album still radiates AtB's style as it was back then, at least in comparison to Rareform, but we still see the directions of In Dreams, but in a way i feel like are groovier than In Dreams was. it may not be much of anything like Forging A Future Self, but this is my second favorite album by them anyway. for anyone who are still following this band and were fans of Rareform, but not so much In Dreams, i feel this might pick you back up, but i can't promise you will like it as much as their first two albums by comparison, but i feel like this album can stand well on it's own terms.

This is coming from someone who doesn't listen to a lot of metal bands but I've owned this album for almost exactly a year and in all that time it has barely left my speakers and just gets better & better. Every single song is a piece of art, this album is of the highest quality and has made ATB my favorite band. I love their older stuff but this album is the next level, I listen to it every day. They also put on a stellar & flawless live show and are very humble, chill and nice dudes. I cannot recommend this album enough!

In Dreams felt like an interesting departure in style for After the Burial... Rareform was an album that had 100% replay value, from start to finish. In Dreams took elements of the Rareform sound and added a much bigger emphasis on the bands groove metal/djent influence.

Wolves Within homogenizes the elements of those last two albums, and mostly comes out on top. There are moments of brilliant guitar melody driven tunes, and then there are the chuggy/djenty elements... the latter can get a bit out of hand, but that is seriously the only gripe I might have with this album. Technical, melodic guitar fueled wizardry. That is all.

It's definitely another solid effort from After the Burial! So far, they're 3 for 3 on Sumerian Records.
