5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, compact Marian apparition library., July 25, 2005
This review is from: A Woman Clothed with the Sun (Image Book) (Paperback)
That's exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to read lengthy volumes on each apparition, but I wanted a solid account of each, especially the most important, recent, Church approved ones.
And that is exactly what this book is. Yes, pictures would have been lovely, but not many artists can do Our Lady anything close to justice.
It's difficult to imagaine anyone being able to read these factual, very touching accounts and not be moved to not only belief in them, but come away with a strong determination to do what the Blessed Virgin Mary asks of us all. Come back to the faith and live it! Very inspiring book.

A Woman Clothed With The Sun examines the seven most significant apparitions of Our Lady in the past two centuries, from Lourdes and Fatima to Banneux and the appearance of Mary at Guadalupe. Each apparition receives historical explanation, description of the vision, and Mary's messages as quoted and interpreted by scholars and experts. An excellent, highly readable overview.

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful account of pre-contemporary Marian visitations, August 8, 2005
This review is from: A Woman Clothed with the Sun (Image Book) (Paperback)
A series of 8 essays published in 1960 on Marian apparitions from Guadalupe to Fatima and beyond. The most recent sightings covered are Banneux and Beauraing from the 1930s. If you want some basic background on these earlier visits of Mary and don't mind the official Catholic version this is a very useful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An informative book, which is both reverent and factual, September 28, 1999
By A Customer
This book gives a synopsis of eight modern apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While the tone is reverent, the text is factual and specific. Both Catholics and non-Catholics interested in paranormal phenomena will enjoy this book. Each chapter is self-contained, making the book suitable for browsing. An excellent introduction to the topic of Marian apparitions.

5.0 out of 5 stars the one book that had the biggest impact on my life, October 21, 2008

This review is from: A Woman Clothed with the Sun (Image Book) (Paperback)
I read this book in the summer of 1994- and as I write this (14 yrs later), I still maintain that this book has the biggest single impact on my life.

Two sections (Guadalupe and Fatima) offer what I consider to be the most undeniable proofs for the existence of God. And not only of God, but the reality of Christ and the special place that Mary has in salvation history.

70,000 people witnessed the miracle at Fatima. And the three illiterate shepherd children from an out-of-the-way village in an otherwise unimportant country predicted all the major events of the 20th Century.

And, together with "The Handbook on Guadalupe"- every American should know about Our Lady of Guadalupe. (She is, after all, the Patroness of the Americas.) Try visiting Mexico and not feeling the impact of the events of December 1531 still to this day.

Well-written, informative, inspiring- this books is a must read.

This review is from: A Woman Clothed with the Sun (Image Book) (Paperback)
This is hands down the best book on appearances on earth by the Blessed Virgin Mary which I have ever read. It contains eight significant visions with each narrative written by an expert on that particular appearance. I first encountered this marvelous book while still in grade school when a parish priest recommended it to my mother. I am so glad it is still available for purchase to share with one another. I gave it as part of a confirmation gift, and it is not the first time I have done so.

I have read many books on the visitations of The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Our Savior, and this one is certainly one of the very best. The accounts are factual and consise. An excellent starting point for any Christian. Highly recommended.

I usually write more elaborate reviews, but it's not necessary here. Suffice it to say that this is one of the best books on Marian apparitions. Highly, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, November 28, 2011

This is a book I've read and re-read over and over again. I've also bought it as gifts for friends and family. Well worth the read! When I went to the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, I found that I actually knew more about Our Lady's appearance to Juan Diego than our Mexican guide did...all because of this wonderful book.
