About the Author
Witi Ihimaera is descended from the East Coast tribes of the North Island of New Zealand. He was the first Maori writer to publish a short-story collection (Pounamu, Pounamu, 1972) and novel (Tangi, 1973). together with Maurice Gee he has the distinction of having won the Wattie/Montana Book of the Year Award three times. An editor and librettist, he currently lives in Auckland where he is a professor of English at Auckland University. Woman Far Walking is his first published play.
