Dr. Graf wins again with her ability to breathe life into people who are no longer breathing. She colors a picture of Dr. Mary Walker that allows us to see the furrows in her brow as she continued to stubbornly stick to her values. This book is eye-opening and brings to the forefront many women's rights issues that we may not even be aware of. Thank you again Dr. Graf for allowing us to see the humanness behind a legend!

Mary Walker was a Doctor, POW in the Civil War, a leader for human and woman's rights, and to date, this countries only female recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Sad more people don't know of her, this book, first pub in 1962, has been reprinted a few times.

Still, sort of pricey and scarce, cross genre piece, but worth the search.

Dr Mary E Walker is a very rare lady. She believed in equal rights for women and wrote many papers and gave many speeches on this subject.

Not that well researched.More research is needed on what Dr.Mary Walker saw at the trial and execution of the Lincoln Conspirators!

Very interesting. I had no previous knowledge of women during the Civil War.
