This book was placed on the Commandant's list of recommended reading in 1997. It is the only book that has been written about the Women Marines of World War II. It is an important book on Military History that should be in every library and in all Women's Studies programs in colleges throughout our country.

Mrs. Yianalos' memoir was spectacular. Having been a woman Marine myself, I could relate to every timeless aspect she detailed and I greatly enjoyed the intricies of her life as a reservist in WWII. There are no better words to describe this book than full of esprit de corps, timeless memories and sheer perfection. It radiates with the essence of Marine sisterhood. I recommend this book to every woman Marine and any woman looking for excellence in literature.
