More About the Author

Hayley DiMarco is the best-selling author of more than thirty books, including Dateable, Marriable, Mean Girls, The Woman of Mystery, and Cupidity. She spent the early part of her career working for a little shoe company called Nike in Portland, Oregon and Thomas Nelson Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 2002 Hayley left Nelson and founded Hungry Planet, a company intensely focused on feeding the world's appetite for truth by producing books and new media, taking on issues of faith and life with a distinctly modern voice. Shortly after founding Hungry Planet, Hayley successfully completed a nationwide executive search for someone to run the company so she could focus on writing. She describes her husband, Michael, as her most successful business acquisition!

4.0 out of 5 stars BE The Woman of Mystery, September 10, 2009
This review is from: The Woman of Mystery: Unveiling the Secret to True Romance (Paperback)
Perfect for : Personal Use

In a nutshell: Life is full of mysteries, especially for those who have put their faith in God. Why did God do this to me? Why does God let bad things happen? While Hayley DiMarco has written a life-affirming book for women about finding true romance in their life, she has also written a book that explains that God made us according to his plan, and that our confidence comes from the knowledge that we are perfect in God's eyes [p. 31]. She also explains how wonderful a confident woman is. While her book goes much deeper than this and covers a wide range of wonderful topics, including making your husband feel at-home, de-cluttering, having a more-positive attitude and demeanor, the importance of embracing life, etc. The author has really taken a close look at all areas of a woman's life and addressed many problem areas that we struggle with in an attempt to help us overcome our obstacles and become the woman of mystery and help us find true love again, a love that will last.

Extended Review:
Content: From the table of contents, the book covers: The Woman of Mystery, Her Essence, Her Love, Her Lips, Her Style, Her Space, Her Waiting, and Her Worship, and wraps up with The End (of a Life without Mystery).

Format: Each chapter begins with a few quotes about love from tv and movies. Hayley DiMarco then makes her point with plenty of examples. Each chapter ends with a small section called Lifting The Veil that provides the reader with activities to do that pertain to the current chapter. These activities help the reader to implement things from the chapter in their life.
Readability: I found the book easy to read with the included references to Bible passages and movie examples.

Overall: This is an affirming and supportive book for women of all ages who would like to discover what true romance really is, and how to attain it.

As a busy mom, I can never find time for a book. But I found time for this one! And I zipped through it in no time! As I began to read, I saw how pertinent this book is for both married women and single women... it really is for EVERY woman. I am purchasing it for every woman in my family, even though we are all at different stages in life.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Woman of Mystery: A Refreshing Celebration of modern Christian Women, September 21, 2009
By
This review is from: The Woman of Mystery: Unveiling the Secret to True Romance (Paperback)

Hayley DiMarco's The Woman of Mystery celebrates a woman's grace, creativity, space and faith. It takes the modern woman on a journey to discover the true meaning of lasting love- --- one that lasts far longer than the frothy moment mid-chick-flick.

Structured in a readable fashion wtih short outlines and moments of reflection, women looking for a boost like caffeine will sink into this book quite easily.

DiMarco speaks to both single and married women of faith. She readily validates her voice on the single woman due to the fact that she married at 37 years old. The snippets of her life story throughout gave the book an altruistic and refreshingly personal appeal. In fact, I almost felt like Hayley was leading a small Bible study group chatting in an intimate setting, or across from me at coffee.

Her spirited approach to mystery and romance, her insatiable appetite for life and her plea for women to remember and embrace the romance in their every day life was heartening.

Her strongest suit continues in a paragraph on a woman's space: which put me immediately in mind of Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own.

I don't often read Christian non-fiction of this ilk and I was happy to stray from the norm. DiMarco has a lot to offer women in the way of self-esteem, celebration and re-assurance.

Coming from this at a Christian angle made her book ever more delightful.
