5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful Gift to Women
I have read almost every book by Clarissa Pinkola Estes but have never heard of Caroline Myss until I purchased this CD.

I, unlike the other reviewers, did not find rude behavior or belittlement but wise, wonderful conversations between two strong, very gifted, loving women who respect each other enough to allow the other person to speak who she really is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Calling Dr. Myss' Guardian Angel!, February 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
I used to think the world of Caroline Myss. Pinkola Estes and Myss make a wonderful, magical combination. However, Dr. Myss is getting pedantically infatuated with herself, to the point that she has become her own self parody and worst archetype. It is finally becoming clear in her recent presentations that she enjoys ridiculing her audience and that she uses her sharp tongue and mind to belittle our shortcomings and fears. Intuition and the Mystical Life could have been a great edition, but Dr Myss's input did not help Dr. Pinkola Estes' great contribution. I feel sorry for Myss and wish that her guardian angel would rescue her from herself.

3.0 out of 5 stars McIntuition?, March 4, 2004
By A Customer
I was surprised and unsettled by aspects of listening to Caroline Myss on this CD. Her habit of addressing Dr. Estes as "Clariss" is grating and to this listener borders on condescension. At one point she essentially tells Estes that she is going to get inside her head and walk around and tell her just what makes her tick -- in essence to "become" her. When Estes murmurs some trepidation and gently intimates that turnabout is fair play, Myss swiftly dismisses this and proceeds to blow right by Dr. Estes' boundaries without a second thought. It makes me wince. There is something so presumptuous and disrespectful about assuming that one can "instantly" know another's soul. I'm an intuitive psychotherapist and even when I can make fair hypotheses about the internal machinations of clients (some of whom I've known for years) I maintain a huge margin of respect for the possibility that I may be wrong. Myss, however (as others have noted) does not seem to be constrained by the encumbrance of healthy skepticism when it comes to her own perceptions. Her slick packaging, Oprah-fication and unleashed ego conspire to reduce her message to McIntuition. Not so Dr. Estes, whose living, breathing body of work stands squarely on its own merits and on her rock-solid integrity. This production shines a light on the contrast between the two. My intuition suggests that this may have been what was intended. Earth to Vasalisa: You are in the presence of the great and powerful Baba Yaga. Ask for fire.

I have read almost every book by Clarissa Pinkola Estes but have never heard of Caroline Myss until I purchased this CD.

I, unlike the other reviewers, did not find rude behavior or belittlement but wise, wonderful conversations between two strong, very gifted, loving women who respect each other enough to allow the other person to speak who she really is.

I am used to having conversations like this with other people where we listen to everything the other person has to say, regardless of whether we agree and we appreciate them for their unique insight and input.

In other words...I do not judge a person by their tone of voice, ideas or stories. In my opinion that is perhaps what is happening to other listeners.

I almost didn't purchase this CD because I got the impression that it was a ridiculing dialogue without information but I am so glad that I used my own judgement and bought it.

I would say that this is truly a gift to other women who are open to listening to what these two beautiful speakers have to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intuition Channeled & Fused By Two Wise Women - A Favorite!!!, January 2, 2006
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
I have been familiar with the works of Caroline Myss & Clarissa Pinkola Estes for over a year, and have been deeply touched by their books and recordings. There are times when I refer to these as my "Bibles." Which is the case with intuition and the Mystical life, as well. I continue to listen too the CD's over and over again, gleaning something extra each time. I find that the CDs are quite centering and take me to a soothing place where I am in between contemplation, intuition, and spirituality. I like both perspectives and feel they both compliment eachother very well. Unlike some who have reviewed the CD, I do not find caroline Myss self-absorbed at all. I think her tone and the way she channels is just stronger and more emphatic sounding in her voice, and how she channels truth is just lightning fast and may sound less soothing and calm than Estes soft poetic voice. I see it as just a different manner of processing information and personality type, which makes the information all the deeper, fuller and more interesting. I don't think either woman gets less of a point accross, but create a beautiful accented marriage of mystical information. This is excellent for discovering how intuition develops, how it is well used, how we raise generations usings spirituality and intuition, as well as illness and a persons view of the earthen world and spiritual world. It is simply stunning!

4.0 out of 5 stars Myss shows herself up!, March 26, 2005
By
Estes is once again, marvellous. Anyone who's read Women Who Run With the Wolves will know this. Myss however, shows herself up to be suffering from the great mother complex (Jung) and animus possessed to boot. I'm amazed that Estes put up with Myss long enough to bring this project to fruition. Myss would do well to undergo some in depth personal analysis. Her unintegrated complexes are showing!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, October 15, 2008
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
Loved Estes' book "Women Who Run With Wolves" and had high hopes for this. It was definitely worth listening to but I didn't feel especially "enlightened" by it. Probably just recommend renting it at a library and see what you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nurturing with a shadow..., May 7, 2009
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
I had heard of C.Pinkola-Estes and C. Myss prior to purchasing this CD. I've never gravitated towards Myss' work so I didn't expect a huge message from her contribution to this collaboration. Despite the jarring and borderline arrogant remarks from Myss, there are many messages that are offered and highlighted in this CD. Estes has a natural inclination to draw reference to the popular and personal experience. Myss shares lots of personal experience and often supports her opinions with the preface "To me...". I want to give this 5 stars but I'm thwarted by Myss' brass tone of voice and almost similarly choice of language. I think it's worth a purchase and the consumer could benefit from the message once he/she can get past the messenger...seeing "between the worlds" so to speak.

5.0 out of 5 stars two amazing women!, January 30, 2009
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
two amazing women sharing their super bright intelligence. Love the first part when Clarissa is talking and explaining and Caroline tries to adjust the words...Yikes, /Clarissa a soft spoken woman starts to raise her voice, thanks for not editing that out. Just proves that they are both human beings who are bright, but not without feeling, nor emotions!
I am learning so much from these two remarkable ladies...have several other of their works....

5.0 out of 5 stars Intuition and the Mystical Life, July 19, 2005
This review is from: Woman to Woman: An Original Conversation - Intuition and the Mystical Life (Audio CD)
I enjoyed listening to Carolyn Myss and Clarissa Estes Pinklolas experts in their field on intuition. They supported, validated, and comlimented one another. It was interesting learning their journey in developomg their own inutuition "muscle" from a young age. Their conversation like format helped me click into my own experiences that were still a little confusing to me and was thought of as out there instead of inner knowing. Recommending to alot of my friends who are interested in honing their inner awareness tools.
