There's something appealing about Gene Wilder, a certain je ne sais quoi. He's not sexy, that's for sure, but his sense of humor shines through even if he's silent. Something about him makes you smile with just the thought of him. This was the movie I always think of when someone says his name, even if it wasn't the all time greatest.

Gene Wilder falls for some mysterious stranger (a.k.a. The Woman In Red - hence the title) that sets him off on a tangent. Some would call it a midlife crisis. Infidelity is an ugly thing, but he makes it funny. He and his friends - especially Charles Groden - are a bunch of cutups and their antics are hilarious (that blind man routine!). His real life wife, Gilda Radner, made an appearance as the woman scorned while his wife is blissfully unaware of his wants. An often glossed over character is Shelly, the nice Jewish boy punk rocker who for some reason is hanging around their house a lot with his kids. He's creepy and weird, but harmless. In the end, he faces a big question that a lot of us face when it comes to fidelity vs. infidelity. I've had many conversations that mirror this exactly - "What the hell am I doing? I have a wonderful [fill in the blank] and I'm going to throw it away over a piece of ass?" And a lot of people do. But he wises up before it's too late. It'a lite hearted trip.

LeBrock & Wilder, the most unlikely of couples are thrown together through a tram-re-launch advertising campaign, run by Wilder. Wilder with his spark of romance long extinguished through his 'very ordinary' marriage to Judith Ivey and his fashion sense lodged 10 years in the past embarks on a comedy of errors as he attempts to woo the sparkling LeBrock. The supporting cast are superb as a constant supply of fuel for Wilders amazing comedic skills. His observation of the male ego when it comes into contact with a beautiful woman is incisive and uncomfortably familiar. With an accompanying soundtrack by the legendary Stevie Wonder, this movie stands out as one of the unsung heroes of the eighties, the irony being that 'I just called to say I love you' was one of the most sung hits of the decade. A valued addition to any Video collection, which should be visited on regular basis.

This is a very funny movie. Not only did Gene Wilder act in it, he directed it as well. I would say this has to be one of his best acting efforts. His own brand of comedy shines brightly in this movie. Kelly LeBrock is at her sexiest as well. All around a good time!

Here is a Romantic Comedy which centers around the un-Romantic Comedy subject of adultery. Kelly Le Brock portrays the stunning, goddess-like woman who is denied to most of we mere mortals. Gene Wilder plays the sort of creepy guy whom creepy guys like me aspire to be like!

Theodore (Wilder), is a normal, happily married man who lives an average life. That is, until he happens to see a breath-taking woman in red (Le Brock). His encounter with her makes him study his life and ask the age-old question: "Is this all that there is?" He decides to pursue the woman in red, but he has two problems. (1): He has a very jealous wife, and has seen the disastrous consequences of his friends getting caught cheating 1st hand. (2): As we've already said, mere mortals typically don't stand a chance to get the time-of-day from Supermodels.

The film has a few "flat" spots, but also has a handful of classic scenes. The late Gilda Radner is great as the poor innocent girl who gets caught in-the-middle of Theodore's gambit. Still, this is certainly not the funniest or most-entertaining RC film I've ever seen.

Perhaps the most important aspect of the film is Kelly Le Brock. I've always been dismayed that she didn't do more films. She "nails" the part of the model who is a coveted object-of-desire. Yes, there are plenty of beautiful women in Hollywood. However, only a small percentage of them could pull off this part. Merely being gorgeous was not good enough for this part; a certain "mystery" was required as well. Le Brock certainly has that mystery about her that always mesmerizes creepy guys like me - and she always has had it. Without Le Brock, this movie would barely make 1 star.

An excellent comedy which makes the most out of Gene Wilder's considerable comic talent. THE WOMAN IN RED is a charming, simple romp following the adventures of shy Teddy who is infatuated with a beautiful model (Le Brock - so who can blame him! )Wilder is just so funny from when he shows himself as the world's worst horserider (who used to teach it to earn pocket money, of course!), to throwing a mock tantrum in his bath or verbalising his pseudonym (Irving...Julius Irving) to a hotel keeper. The picture remains a treasure with fine visual gags and Stevie Wonder's fabulous theme song "I Just Called To Say I Love You." So, if you need an added sparkle in your day see it...or see it again!

Gene Wilder and his friends get together for fun. Great show to watch. Enjoyed it a lot.

This movie was funny with a bit of drama. In some parts of the movie you hoped his wife would find out that he liked another woman and some parts you thought she was having a affair or you could just tell and you dint want her to know he liked another woman. But all through out the movie you wanted him to meet her and some parts you dint want him too because if his wife found out. I am not going to tell you if she did or not but I will tell you they did not have a affair. They almost did but they dint. So there really was noting to find out exept at the beggining when he liked her.

Between Gene Wilder's overacting (as usual) and Charles Grodin's grating self that he is, this movie keeps getting worse to me every time I see it. Kelley LeBrocke is hot...but even she can't save this awful movie. Gilda Radner was about the only interesting person in this film. Sorry she had to go so early.

Funnyman Gene Wilder delivers an awesome performance in this film. Kelly Le Brock plays the title role. Even Charles Grodin and the late Gilda Radner give great moral support. There's an incredible soundtrack of songs by R&B legend Stevie Wonder. One of them is his biggest all-time hit,I JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU. He even performed a few bars of the hit song on an episode of NBC's The Cosby Show which he guest-starred as himself. I like IT'S YOU,Stevie's duet with Dionne Warwick. Some songs were performed solo by Warwick. One of them is MOMENTS AREN'T MOMENTS,which also appeared on her 1985 album,FRIENDS.

There is a cool little thing that happens in this movie and you won't want to miss it. They show Kelly LeBrock's bush.
