This review is from: His Woman, His Wife, His Widow (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Hmmmmm, nothing we don't know... This story reveals the struggle inside each of us at one time or another in our lives, where we want the "good" life quick and fast. It's a tale where the main characters Lindsay aka Nay Nay and Shaun meet, fall in love and believe the world is theirs to take. Lindsey battles between right and wrong, her christianity and her love for her man. Shaun is one who believes he is the man. He provides for his woman and his children, thus he can do as he pleases. The only problem is how is he providing for his family? Is the way he earns his money really all that important as long as he provides for those he loves? Should Lindsey be concerned about her man's occupation or turn a blind eye?

This story is about the streets and all that happens when you choose the fast buck - rather than good ole fashion sweat and honesty. It's about drugs, baby moma drama, adultery, glitz & glamour, love, choices, falling from Grace and repentance. It demonstrates true friendship, dealing with the perverbial inlaws and God's will. Further, it shows its readers how vital it is to Listen to that inner voice and seek God's direction for our lives. Finally, the message illustrated is that even when we move from God and have to suffer the consequences of our choices, He is always near and waiting for our return, turning our "bad" into something good!

3.0 out of 5 stars I ain't much on Casanova, me and Romeo ain't never been friends..., July 18, 2010
This review is from: His Woman, His Wife, His Widow (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Lindsay `Nay-Nay' Westbrook is a 16-year-old Christian that becomes enamored by the sexy Shaun Taylor. The two strike up a relationship that is innocent with promising undertones despite the numerous obstacles that are stacked against their union. Shaun has a few skeletons in his closet, beginning with the fact that he's 19, too old for Nay-Nay, and has already fathered a child with a mother that still wants him for her very own. His current occupation challenges her religious beliefs as well as her relationship with her mother. Lindsay and BFF Shyanne have been close since second grade, and she remains true to her friend in spite of the odds. Lindsay's love for Shaun overshadows all reasons and her upbringing, and in turn, causes her to alienate herself from anyone or anything that is anti-Shaun. Shaun's status in the drug games escalates as well as his ego.

His Woman, His Wife, His Widow by Janice Jones is a tale of young love, heartbreak, betrayal, disappointment, premarital sex, family feuds, friendships, and the ups and downs life entails. Ms. Jones paints a picture of an immature young lady making adult decisions and then suffering the consequences...all for the sake of love. The storyline is consistent as well as vivid in all aspects. There are some pretty touching scenes that proved to be very visual. His Woman, His Wife, His Widow proved to be unique with a distinct message of second chances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome story, but there is a glitch!, February 2, 2011
This review is from: His Woman, His Wife, His Widow (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
I loved this book, but there is indeed a glitch. You may lose a night of sleep . . . because once you start reading His woman, His Wife, His Widow, you will not be able to put it down until you have read the last final word on the last final page! Powerful story about a young Christian girl who meets and falls instantly in love with an older guy who is a drug dealer. The 13-year span of the story did not drag on. It kept a suspenseful pace which was a definite plus. The storyline held me captive throughout the entire time I read it. I laughed, I cried, I even screamed and shouted sometimes at the book. Some of the characters, i.e. Lindsay, Shyanne and Shaun touched me in so many different ways, some good and some not so good! With so many things going on -- teenage love, baby mama drama, true friendships, personal relationships with God, etc., the author never slacked up in her writing. She kept it real and on point. It's something when your heart and/or soul doesn't listen to anything that your eyes and ears are telling you. I don't want to write too much because I know I will give a lot away about this book and like the saying goes, "I got mine, now you gotta get yours!" After reading this book, you will definitely see why.

I am looking forward to the sequel to see where life leads our major characters, how God is working in their lives and just to experience again the awesome writing of one of my favorite author's, Janice Jones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It, July 9, 2011
This review is from: His Woman, His Wife, His Widow (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
All I can say is I loved it. Wow, I was kind of skeptical about reading this because it's not like the normal urban fiction that I read. But a friend recommended it so I was like what the hay, and I wasn't disappointed. All I'm going to say is this is definitely a good read, and I will definitely be reading more of Janice Jones.
