Excellent Information,
This review is from: The Woman's Book of Choices: Abortion, Menstrual Extraction, RU-486 (Paperback)
Even though some of the information will now be dated, the book is excellent and I can't recommend strongly enough that every pro-choice (pro-child, pro-family; they are all the same thing) woman own this book. It documents very clearly the history of abortion and abortion laws and techniques. It describes procedures clearly; a must for anyone facing the current misinformation both sides of the abortion fight are often guilty of. It also has invaluable information on menstrual extraction. The book clearly cites tragic instances of women desperate for legal, safe abortion who have killed themselves trying unsafe "folk" methods. It makes clear that we want our daughters to choose between better options in the future, rather than face a frightening return to the past. The book is well-written, well-organized, and does not carry a proselytising flavour in any way. It is very objective in tone, which I appreciate, without being too technical, medical, or dry. It is also clearly footnoted and every source checks out.

If you are interested in women's self-help gynecological care and learning about menstrual extractions then this is a must have book. It is the best book on menstrual extraction available at this time.

this book is absolutely wonderful, and i am so glad to have added it to my library. its incredibly educational, and really no woman should live without it. i highly recommend it, especially if you are a woman seeking advice concerning menstruation, pregnancy and the like. this book will certainly be a life long reference for me, especially seeing how our reproductive rights as women are continuously put on the stand. this book gives me hope, and lets me know that there are in fact options outside of a coathanger, and the legal process, that are safe and effective.

This review is from: The Woman's Book of Choices: Abortion, Menstrual Extraction, RU-486 (Paperback)
It is interesting that this book is dedicated to someone the authors has fondly referred to as 'mother.' Yes, it IS very honorable and beautiful to be a mother.... mother to a living, breathing human being... a little person who is a part of YOU! :) I have seen and held living (and not) babies in my hands, full term and preterm as an Obstetric nurse for 20 years, and I am amazed that this book goes to enormous effort to not make any reference to 'baby' or 'human', or 'life' or 'him,' 'her.' I understand that the authors' careful choice of words is to convince people to feel comfortable with abortion.... somehow! Why not? I mean, it truly is a HORRIFIC act. Right! I mean, a little person's life, even in the first trimester, is being torn from LIVING!!!! So we must go to great lengths to choose words carefully! We wouldn't want to have anyone feel that it's actually wrong, WOULD WE??
It is so obvious that having an abortion means an intentional 'ending' to another person's life! The word 'ending' is a gently way to phrase it, isn't it. In reality, abortion is the act of killing him or her. Sadly, it is currently legal in this country. And I must add that because something is legal, does not mean that it is actually okay or somehow good. Many references are made to Planned Parenthood in the book, a huge abortion industry. $$$$ Did you know that Planned Parenthood's greatest money profits are in doing abortions, particularly late term abortions (20-24 weeks)? Ching, Ching! Can ya hear the money rollin' in?! $$$$$ After an abortion, who do you think really profits? Did you know that babies can live and survive without the mother, weeks before 24 weeks? This book is not about 'a woman's direct, physical empowerment' (page 9). This book, and others like it are about convincing you of the false notion that you or a woman (as I am) is somehow 'empowered' by a choice of ending the life of one's baby.... your little son or daughter. WHO ARE YOU KIDDING?????? A woman is supposed to be empowered by the holy word: choice... when it comes to choosing to STOP a baby's life?? This is your choice; NOT your right! This is the shedding of innocent blood. The book demonstrates the deprived state of ourselves! Please know that YOU and your baby are precious in God's sight. BOTH of your lives have tremendous purpose. I am praying for every person who reads this review. You are just as important as your baby! There is help out there! People who can help you and your baby. There are many beautiful choices for you than destroying his/her life. **I recommend an INCREDIBLE book to you, also at Amazon, a bestseller called 'Unplanned' by Abby Johnson (an X-Planned Parenthood Director!!). You've gotta check it out! You won't regret it. :D |
