Like the author, I didn't start hunting until I was an adult. I have half a shelf of books on hunting and shooting, some written by and for women, but none of them are even half as useful as this book. Unlike other experts, who often seem to have forgotten that there was ever a time when they didn't know the basics, Berdette Zastrow tells you everything you need to know to get started hunting. I can't praise this book highly enough. I wish it had been available 3 or 4 years ago when I started hunting.

Author and accomplished hunter Berdette Zastrow addresses all aspects of hunting from a female perspective. She starts with the "need to know" basics of hunting with chapters on women's outdoor programs, firearms, ammunition and safety, hunting clothing, finding places to hunt, ethics and conservation. Drawing from personal experiences and backing her information up with facts, Zastrow explains the different types of game, the proper way to hunt that game and all the gear needed. Learn to hunt antelope, deer, wild turkeys, upland game birds and waterfowl. The book transcends gender--men will learn from this information, also. Woman's Guide to Hunting will not only educate you and help you teach others about hunting, but will inspire you to go afield as well.
