5.0 out of 5 stars A Woman's spirit, November 16, 2008
This review is from: A Woman's Spirit (Hazelden Meditations) (Paperback)
This is the best meditation book for recovering women. I was given this book by my sponser on the anniversary of 3 months sober. And here over five years later I read it every day. I also have purchased a copy for every woman close to me in the program. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Woman's Spirit, January 6, 2007
This review is from: A Woman's Spirit (Hazelden Meditations) (Paperback)
Out of all the mediatation material I have used I find this is the most focused on taking care of the inner child in me. That child caused me to run in fear and procrastinate on taking care of what I need to do for me. This mediatation guide has empowered me to take better care of me on a daily basis. This is very wonderful. I ordered several to give as gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect gift for a friend, October 19, 2011

I gave this as a gift to a friend who was delighted. Each day's reading starts with a quotation, then comes a short daily reading that is beautifully written. At the end there is a meditative thought - or prayer - that sums up the reading for the day.

The book is a small format, perfect to keep on a bedside table, or in a morning meditation basket, or in your purse. Makes a thoughtful gift for a friend in recovery.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daily go to book, June 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As a woman in recovery, I find many of the things in the Big Book and 24 Hours a Day just don't speak to me. After all, and it took me many years to believe this, we are different from men. An issue I struggle with is surrender and turning power over to a Higher Power. We are taught at such an early age to play second fiddle, that in recovery I feel I need slightly reinterpreted advice. Too often we let ourselves be doormats. This book gives me strength and hope without that feeling of being used. It talks about boundary setting and the beauty of letting things slide sometimes--there are cases where the best action is inaction. Anyway, I read the meditations from this book every day and usually, something resonates with me. I highly recommend it and will be getting copies for my sponsees.
