Inspiring! Uplifting and informative,
By Mrs Mary Aris "Mrs Aris" (Oxford) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Woman's Walk in Grace: God's Pathway to Spiritual Growth (Paperback)
What is Grace and how do you get it? Catherine Martin answers these questions in her inspirational and spiritually up-lifting book, 'A Woman's Walk in Grace'. 'A Woman's Walk in Grace' is a gentle and well-written book on the subject of sanctifying grace in a style as gentle and charming as it is spiritual and inspirational. The book is written by the Director of Quiet Time Ministries and is written in stories about ordinary people who in spite of setbacks have found grace in the Lord and this grace has turned their lives around and have enriched them with this profound, God-given gift. How can someone who has experienced sadness and every unimaginable pain in life bounce back with resiliency and turn all misery and pain around? The answer is summed up in this verse from the Bible:
Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ. To him be the glory, both now and in the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter: 3:18 The book has inspirational stories and positive affirmations of grace that you can put to practice on a daily basis. Catherine Martin is founder of Quiet Time Ministries, a non-profit organization. She is a director of women's ministries. She graduated from Bethel Theological Seminary. She has authored 'Six Secrets to a Powerful Quiet Time', 'Set my Heart on Fire', 'Passionate Prayers' and 'A Woman's heart that dances'. I requested this book as part of Librarything's Early Reviewers programme. I was excited when I received the book through the post. The Author signed my copy of the book and included a bookmark.

Inspiring & engaging devotional about the power of living in grace,
By Christina Lockstein "Christy's Book Blog" (Oconto Falls, WI USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: A Woman's Walk in Grace: God's Pathway to Spiritual Growth (Paperback)
A Woman's Walk in Grace by Catherine Martin is another must-read devotional by this top notch author. Grace is at the heart of Christianity. God offers his grace and when we receive it we become his children. But accepting it can be harder than it seems because grace is an amazing gift that can be difficult to accept. Martin wants readers to understand the depth of God's grace in order to learn to live and grow in it. She lists the benefits of walking in grace like learning your place in God's plan, finding inner peace, and being a better mom/wife/daughter/friend, because when we live in grace, we become graceful ourselves. I love Martin's devotionals, because each one feels like a daily chat with a good, godly friend. She's always encouraging and loving with a powerful message of the wonders of living in God's grace.

An outstanding book - for believers and non-believers,
By The Golden Reviewer (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Woman's Walk in Grace: God's Pathway to Spiritual Growth (Paperback)
The author has written this book especially for Christian women. Grace - given to us freely by God the Father. Grace is received not earned. The author wants you to believe it - receive it - live it. She wants you to enter the "land of grace". Have you ever walked in the "Garden of Grace"? Throughout the book. the author tells you about special people who not only received God's amazing grace, but walked daily in the Garden of Grace finding the secure love of Jesus.
In the Garden of Grace is where we grow spiritually. The author wants each woman to be a "SWOG" - A Super Woman of God. In your quiet time is where you walk in the Garden of Grace. In order to do this you must prepare yourself. How, you may ask, can I do this? The answer - PRAYER plan. What is the PRAYER plan? * Prepare your heart * Read and study God's word * Adore God in prayer * Yield yourself to God * Enjoy His presence * Rest in His love The more you learn from God, the more you will grow. The author tells us to put on our royal garments as we want in the Garden of Faith. These are your royal garments. * put on a heart of COMPASSION * put on a heart of KINDNESS * put on a heart of HUMILITY * put on a heart of GENTLENESS * put on a heart of PATIENCE * put on a heart of ENDURANCE * put on a heart of FORGIVENESS When you are clothed in these beautiful garments - one you will wear above all others is the love of Jesus. The book is written for women, but I recommend it for all readers - believers and nonbelievers. For those who have already accepted Christ, you will grow spiritually in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For unbelievers, who have doubts, take time to have a "quiet time" with Jesus, practicing the PRAYER plan and you too will become a believer as you walk in the Garden of Grace. Highly recommended. Ms. Martin not only "talks the talk but walks the walk". Ms. Martin, along with her other accomplishments, is a well know author and founder of Quiet Time Ministries. Recommend christian women read other books she has written to help you grow spiritually in the Lord. This book was provided by the publisher as a review copy.

This study has helped me see more clearly the need for grace in my life, and my need to extend grace to those around me. Catherine Martin has a way of bringing Biblical truths to rest on my heart in a loving way. She weaves scripture into real life examples of people in the Bible and modern day, helping me to see how the scriptures apply to my life. I definitely recommend this study.

A Beautiful Walk in the Garden of Grace,
This review is from: A Woman's Walk in Grace: God's Pathway to Spiritual Growth (Paperback)
You know you've got a good book in hand when you have to get up to find a highlighter.
I've been highlighting like crazy since I've started reading A Woman's Walk in Grace. At first I thought I would just kind of skim through this book because I've done quite a few studies on Grace before. But I didn't even get past the first few pages before I was looking for my notebook to take notes and dog earring the pages. Catherine Martin writes in such a way that your heart yearns to know more. Combining personal stories with biblical stories and encouragement, Martin walks you through the garden of God's grace, where you can "grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18 I've added my reading of A Woman's Walk in Grace to my morning devotions and I'm loving it.

I would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Catherine Martin and her publisher for sending me a copy of "A Woman's Walk In Grace" to review for them. I have always been grateful for this generosity, and I am trying to improve at being consistent in taking the time to thank these wonderfully giving individuals in a public forum. I really appreciate your time, effort and expense in making a reviewer copy available to me.
I found "A Woman's Walk In Grace: God's Pathway To Spiritual Growth" by Catherine Martin to be more of an encouraging read rather than an educational one (as the subtitle appears to suggest). The author provides Biblical illustrations of grace alongside stories of life application for those same principles. Perhaps I would have seen it as more of a pathway if there were exercises to be worked through or questions to ponder and discuss with others. But there aren't. Still, this is an upbeat read that offers hope, which is a very good thing. I think this would be a wonderful book to give as a gift.

A Map of God's Garden of Grace,

This review is from: A Woman's Walk in Grace: God's Pathway to Spiritual Growth (Paperback)
"The garden of God's grace," writes Catherine Martin, "is a place of security, abundance, provision, joy and hope." This book is a guide to that garden. It's full of practical advice and Biblical wisdom to encourage believers of all maturity levels to keep growing and delighting in God's grace. Catherine points us to Biblical, historical and contemporary people whose lives are shining examples of the power of grace. I especially enjoyed the stories of Amy Carmichael's co-worker Ponammal and Hudson Taylor's daughter-in-law Geraldine Taylor. This book is equally appropriate for individual study or group discussion.
