5.0 out of 5 stars Ulimate gift for expectant and new moms!
This is the book I dreamed of when I was pregnant! It doesn't tell you if you're going to get varicose veins or if its ok to take Tylenol, it tells you about your BABY. It has amazing, beautiful images of the baby at all stages based on the most cutting edge technologies and detailed but accessible information about fetal development. It makes a delightful gift for baby...

1.0 out of 5 stars Clay figures
I was so excited to get this book after reviewing a similar one that a friend had, however, I was very disappointed in it. The pictures are clay models that an artist has molded. There are no real ultrasounds or images. With our wonderful technology today, I was hoping for the real thing not an artist's rendition of what a fetus and blood cells look like. Although the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ulimate gift for expectant and new moms!, December 6, 2006
This review is from: In the Womb: Witness the Journey from Conception to Birth through Astonishing 3D Images (Hardcover)
It makes a delightful gift for baby showers, because everyone wants to pass it around. After I gave a copy to my sister for her second pregnancy, she and my mother now make it a standard baby present. Its more exciting than *another* cute outfit or monitor!

Although the artist is talented, I was very disappointed that no where in the description of this book did it reveal that the images were clay models.

5.0 out of 5 stars The complete inside view of pregnancy, November 22, 2006
This review is from: In the Womb: Witness the Journey from Conception to Birth through Astonishing 3D Images (Hardcover)
Even if you haven't seen the TV program that this book is (loosely) based on, you should check out this book. The images are incredible. They remind me of the famous photographs by Lennart Nilsson....

What I liked about this book is that it walked you through all the stages of pregnancy, narrating the science as it unfolds with the developing embryo or fetus. There's a lot of information here. Most books about pregnancy focus on the mother, but this really tracks what's going on inside.

I've bought three additional books to give away as gifts to three friends who are pregnant. What could be a better gift than something that really helps you to understand the wondrous processes taking place within?

This book amazingly captures the scientific fact of life from conception and presents the journey in an easy to read format with loads of incredible pictures of real life. This would be a great gift for the newly pregnant mothers. I purchased a second copy for just that purpose.

The pictures in this book are absolutely amazing, and we will display it on our coffee table for years to come. Our only dislike was to the references to evolution. This book is extremely powerful in showing how children grow from inception to birth.

It is great to view, it shows you all babies details starting from creation, and till birth, unbelievbale images and details. One per page, and description plus more details, you won't believe how much it is nice really.

Highly recommended with its DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars What every mother-to-be should see, October 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: In the Womb: Witness the Journey from Conception to Birth through Astonishing 3D Images (Hardcover)
This book describes in detail what is happening to the mother's body and inside the womb with the baby. Focusing on all medical aspects that aren't visible to the naked eye. It was very thorough- tons of microscopic pics(yeah-real pics) and pics of the baby in all stages. Talks some about twins and some things that can go wrong, but it explains why. Has discriptions and pictures almost week by week. Easy to read, even though they have proper names from medical terminology. The national geographic in the womb movie is awesome too. I bought this book through Amazon, after falling in love with the information it provided when I checked it out from the library. I bought it new, something I don't particularly like to do(buying used is better for the environment, and a budget) but I figure I will pass this down the family line, and I wanted one in perfect shape- which all amazon books are in (at least the ones that are ordered directly through amazon.)

This book is the best one for walking you through the fertilization process with real pictures and the latest information. It goes all the way through to the birth showing in real life what baby looks like in different stages of developement. It is not the best for walking you through pregnancy issues and concerns, to get the best one for that (in my opinion), do a search for the book 'Your Pregnancy Week by Week'. This book is the perfect companion for that one.
