4.0 out of 5 stars Should be required Art History text book
The information in this book should be in every Art History 101 text book, but unfortunately it isn't! It does read like a good text book and there are lots of illustrations (although there could be lots more). Chadwick is in expert in her field. Anyone interested in Art History should know what this book covers...

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh boy this is not easy reading...
This was a required text for a class I took this semester. The PRICE was great and I love how small the paperback copy I received was. The book itself does not really hold my attention at all and I would not buy it if I was not a student. Puts me right to sleep he he. The good news though is when you buy books from Amazon, you can usually sell them back for credit( which...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Study, March 17, 2010
This was a brilliant Study that highlights the achievement of often neglected female artists. Chadwick's approach does not only look at the artist themselves, but she delves into their specific works to unveil the mask of what has been viewed with a gender bias eye. It takes a look at art dating back from the middle ages, up until now. Definitely a phenomenal piece and very well written.

If you enjoyed this as much as I have, I would recommend checking out, Who Does She Think She Is? Its a documentary about 5 women who struggle to balance time between artistic expression and practical living in a world where most people cannot name 1 single female artist. Who Does She Think She Is? House Party Kit

The good news though is when you buy books from Amazon, you can usually sell them back for credit( which I will probably use for more textbooks next semester) toward your account.
