Susan J. Carroll is Professor of Political Science and Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University and Senior Scholar at the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) of the Eagleton Institute of Politics. Her writings focus on women's political participation in the United States, including work on women candidates, voters, elected officials, and political appointees. Her recent research examines factors that affect women's entry into elective office and the 2008 campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. A nationally recognized expert on gender and politics, Carroll is frequently called upon to offer press commentary on women's participation as candidates, voters, and public officials.
