4.0 out of 5 stars Bloody sillly shock rock fun!!!!!!
This album is loaded with Motley Crue style glam metal covered in goth blood and carnal fun. This band is crazy as hell...completelry vile...utterly explicit and bad for your brain....so, so, so much fun. Hard rockin band that has a cult following. For fans of Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses as well as Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.

3.0 out of 5 stars More or less the expected
Ive been a huge Wednesday 13 fan for a long time. I actully began listeing to his solo work first before I heard the original Murderdolls. Ive been impressed with all his work he had ever done, but this album falls a little short of what the Murderdolls sound orignaly was. Most of the riffs, lyrics, and overall feel of the album sounds like Wed 13 wrote for his Skeletons...

5.0 out of 5 stars Album of the Year, September 10, 2010
This is a really great rock and roll album. The Murderdolls are grittier and heavier than on their first outing, and it is definitly worth the wait. Every song on the album is a keeper, not a dud in the lot.
If you are familiar with Wednesday 13's solo projects, you can see the evolution of his song writing prowess, and this is just the next step for him.
I really think this is the album that will blow the Dolls up, and with a big upcoming tour swing with Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie, they will definitly be infecting America they way they have the rest of the rock world.
2 1/2 (severed) thumbs up.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALBUM OF THE YEAR, October 30, 2010

I DON'T KNOW HOW ANY HARD ROCK FAN COULD SAY A BAD WORD ABOUT THIS ALBUM. THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS IN THE LAST DECADE PERIOD. THE SONGS ROCK. THE SONG WRITING IS MORE THAN JUST F@#K EVERY OTHER WORD SHOWING HOW WEDNESDAY HAS MATURED AS A LYRICIST. THE FIRST ALBUM WAS GREAT THIS IS BETTER. MURDERDOLLS DESERVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE. ROCK ON BOYS.
P.S. SAW THEM ON TOUR...AWESOME!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ghoul Rock N Roll, October 11, 2010

This is a very good heavy rock recording that you just don't hear on the radio. Heavy influence of glam / metal / punk / and good old hard rock. If you are into Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper this is for you. As a matter of fact, Wed 13 sounds a lot like Alice on a few tracks and that is not a bad thing at all. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that I thought Wed 13 previous solo release, Skeletons, was a tad better. He seemed to be hitting his stride as a solo artist as he was able to record a hard rock album with signs of growth and maturity and still keep his rock creed in tact. Maybe the next Murderdolls release will go in that direction too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood hair metal massacre totally uncensored!!, September 10, 2010

(REAL NAME)
Horror hair/sleaze metal band "Murderdolls" returns after an 8-year absence with their second studio album "Women and Children Last". As most are aware the outfit is a musical duo for its studio part, bringing together glamorous vocalist Wednesday 13 and multi instrumentalist Joey Jordison who performs all guitars, bass and drums.
The guest appearance of Mick Mars on two of the songs perhaps hinted that the direction of this second album would lean more towards old school sleaze metal. Indeed the guitar parts are more versatile while the number of leads/solos has been increased substantially; in addition the lyrics are a bit more playful (while the lyrical themes remain macabre), overall making interest contrast with their horror-humor concept.

Equally important is the fact that the production of the album is totally metallic with thick rhythm guitar parts, huge bass lines and intense, often double bass drumming (Jordison verifies once again that he is a genuine authority on the particular instrument). Favorite tracks include `Summertime Suicide', `Death valley superstars', `Blood stained valentine' and `Pieces of you'.

Despite having left a gap of eight years between their debut and this second album, one has to give credit to the guys for doing a proper job on all aspects of this release (especially when they could have rushed it out in the market). Specifically beyond the 15(!) tracks found on the standard version, the special edition includes 3 bonus tracks raising the overall track list to 18, plus an additional live DVD of 7 songs recorded at the legendary `Key Club' on the 17th of June 2010 (very fresh live footage one has to agree).

The combination of quality songwriting, satisfactory package and distinct musical direction should make `Murderdolls- Women and children first' a very exciting proposition for any fan of Hair/Glam/Sleaze metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best metal/hard rock album of the YEAR!, September 8, 2010
If you are familiar with the Murderdolls like I am, you're very familiar with their first album and its subject matter. Well, this album is in a slightly different tone, but that doesn't make it any worse. Gone are the songs revolving squarely around horror movies, which brought some campyness to the first record. The songs have been replaced by things a bit more serious: Drug abuse, a summertime suicide, funerals and taking your blood via mutilation.

In fact, Women and Children Last may be the better of the two Murderdolls albums. All of the songs on the album are originals, not reworked songs from previous projects. The album is much heavier with a more serious tone. But that doesn't stop it from being FUN! I mean, with a song that uses "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in the lyrics, what's not to love?

Give this album a chance, and you'll not regret it. Don't go into it not expecting a bunch of cheese, and you'll be very satisfied. The horror/glam/punk influence is still there, but it's there more to crunch your bones than to get wasted. And we all know that getting f'd up can't be done all the time... Hell, there's even a song about that! (Whatever You Got, I'm Against It)

The DVD is pretty straightforward: A few live tracks from a show in California. The visual and audio quality is great, but they could have put more tracks on there.

Pick up this edition (the special edition) even just for the 3 bonus tracks. They're 3 of the best on the album - They're THAT good.

5.0 out of 5 stars you won't get ''bored 'til death'', April 6, 2011
At first I listened to a few tracks and it just didn't suit my fancy because it has quite a different sound than the previous album. Almost a complete whole different sound. But after a few listens it grew on me and now I'm diggin' it. It grew on me to a point where I now prefer it rather than the other album, but I'll always be a fan of the Murderdolls and Wednesday 13's stuff. Anyway, this album isn't slow at all. The only track I could've seen be on Beyond The Valley is the last track, A Moment of Violence. The album is worth every penny though.
