Wonderful resource!, October 18, 2007
This review is from: Women Composers - A Heritage of Song: The Vocal Library Low Voice (Paperback)
I bought this book to find material for a graduate vocal recital I am doing which will consist exclusively of music written by women. This volume is a treasure trove of all kinds of pieces in a variety of languages and styles. With this book and Briscoe's New Anthology of Music by Women, one can put together a wonderful program.
My all-women's music recital will take place at the end of March, 2008, as part of the Eighth Annual International Women Composers' Festival in Hartford, Connecticut. I had feared that such a recital might be too sweet, bland, or consist of a litany of similar-sounding music. I am thrilled to discover that there are all kinds of interesting, dramatic, and accomplished songs written by women, and many of them can be found in this book.
