Possibly funny in the 80's and 90's this book is now horribly outdated. This book is really just one joke after another about failed relationships and Linda Sunshine proceeds to outline a dating spreadsheet for use in tracking dating progress. Ok. I'm with her so far. It's mildly witty to assert that we should approach dating w/ the same calculating and data gathering skills that one would use in the work place. Until she reviews what the "data" "reveal" about us. e.g. "2. If the number zero (0) crops up more than thirty-nine times in this chart, you need to increase you monthly unit dates. You are obviously not getting out enough." Ok, that's kinda funny. "5. If your only completed category is dating diasters, you need Jane Fonda's Workout book, record and tape." What??? Why is she suddenly cramming negative societal norms down our throat? It's not funny to imply that someone's not getting dates because of their weight! Who needs the hard-body pressure of the 80s?

I love books and I'm tempted to throw this one in the trash. Don't buy it, ever! If you must read it for historical reference to how one, specific, female author responded to being single in the late 80s, great. Borrow this book from someone or check it out from a library. Blech this left a bad taste in my mouth.

Linda, how could you?
