I was familiar with Phil Borges' photography and knew I'd like this book, but it exceeded all my expectations. The photographs speak for themselves, and the text is inspiring and enlightening. I plan to purchase this book for all my family and friends. It is a beautiful book, full of hope and compassion.

I cannot emphasize strongly enough how moving this book is. I have a lot of photography books and this one is my favorite. You will not be disappointed!

This photo book really touches the heart. The photos along with brief synopsis really makes one think about the plight of women around the world. I highly recommend this coffee-table book. It will inspire you to take action.

Very inspirational and moving book on women and children in the developing world. How many have risen up against the tide of a male dominated society and achieved goals, both individually for themselves and for their communities. Their moving stories are told through the photographs of Phil Borges, a master fine art photographer and paragraph descriptions of the women/girls he photographed and met. Highly recommend this book, beautiful photos and a fine introduction by Madeline Albright.

Of all of Borges books, this I think is the best for showing his photographic style and its development. In his other books the look can be similar throughout, but in this he has obviously developed his style through the period of the work. I especially like the "wide screen" 16:9 ratio shots as they give a fantastic feeling of space and an interesting change to the square format that he has previously used.
