5.0 out of 5 stars Women in Medicine, August 21, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Women in Medicine: Getting In, Growing, and Advancing (Surviving Medical School Series) (Paperback)
In this book, the author reviews all the salient issues of what a career in medicine means for women. Topics span the career of the medical professional, from getting into medical school, to balancing career and family, to finding a mentor and advancing through the ranks. The author refers freely to programs and resources available throughout the country, and taps her huge resources for information, including many personal contacts, for lessons learned, pitfalls and constructive suggestions. The book is a valuable "how to" handbook for women , either as they consider entering into medicine or as they find themselves already in it and struggling with gender-related issues. The book puts these issues in their proper historical perspective and is a very valuable resource (with plenty of important references) for the growing number of women joining the ranks of medicine today.
